Hartington - 5.65 miles easy walk

Meeting at 10:45, the walk starts at 11:00.
Featuring : Caves, stepping stones, nature reserve, woodland, river, village. We will meet at Hartington car park (bring your change, it's not free !). There should be plenty of photographic opportunities.
It should be a fairly easy walk (elevation =636.48 feet at the lowest point
and[masked] at the highest point).
The walk: http://www.getamap.ordnancesurveyleisure.co.uk/?key=naFt9RLKxuAFPpwf6QZb8Q2
The google link to car park : https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=53.139449,-1.811183&hl=en&ll=53.139473,-1.811178&spn=0.00084,0.002178&sll=53.13945,-1.810966&sspn=0.000846,0.002178&t=h&z=19

Also please note I have never been to the locations I select. The way I decide on a place/walk is to try to find a mid point for Sheffield and Manchester members and then I look at the ordnance survey map looking for interesting/different features and create the walk...so at some point I might pick something not as good as the first walk I did.

It was nice to see everybody , thanks for coming to this walk. Now we did have a small problem at the beginning of the walk where the postcode seems to be wrong. I have check all the links and they are showing the correct car park but obviously by using only the postcode to get there it would not have been correct. However, when I create a walk all I do is pin point the place on the map and the software/website gives me the postcode and name of the car park (which obviously was wrong). I did not check the postcode as I though it was correct because when you click on the link it goes to the correct one. Obviously I am trying to find a way to correct this so it doesn't happen again.
Anybody knows of a website where you can click on a map it gives you the correct postcode?
That way I should be able to correct the postcode afterwards (hopefully).
    Thanks !

Maybe I should specify in my email to check the map and not rely on the postcode...?

I think what people are doing is simply taking the postcode and putting it into a sat nav without clicking on the map link. The point is that, while in a town or city, a postcode covers a few houses in a street, in villages it might cover a similar number of dwellings but in a range of streets. Maybe old fashioned written route descriptions would help. We'll have a go at getting it right for the next one, but I think we need to stress to people to look at the whole event description, look at the OS Getamap and maybe print it, and click on the Map link, and above all don't simply enter the stated postcode into a sat nav !

All I went for a walk this morning just south of the Peak Park and totally underestimated the amount of snow underfoot and snowdrifts on the roads. I imagine Hartington will be similar or have more snow. You might like to take this into consideration for your journeys to the start tomorrow. Jackie.

Thank you Jackie for the information , I will keep this in mind for my journey tomorrow !

Yes. I think it started with the aim of having every grid square photographed. Very useful in conjunction with the OS map.

This looks to be an excellent route again, this time following two limestone dales. The more energetic could divert up to the hill and back!

I am also going to set-up a walk on the 20th of April, I will be looking at somewhere in the north of the Peak District (so closer for any member of the Leeds area).

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
