UPDATE: Due to restrictions on parking in the area around the gardens, there will now be an optional short walk (around 25-30 minutes) -enabling us to start in an area with plenty of roadside parking which is not restricted.
Pre-gardens visit walk:
The walk will start from Riverdale Road, and go through Endcliffe Wood and Encliffe Park, with a short walk along Ecclesall Road and up Botanical Road to the gardens.
Anyone not joining the walk, please meet up with us at the BOTANICAL ROAD entrance to the gardens at 11.30am (see the map- link below)
If you do not plan to do the walk, you may find some parking further east along Clarkehouse Road- alternatively try the Francis Newton pub - the car park requires payment, but this is refunded if you spend money in the pub (thanks Glenys for this tip)
The address of the gardens is Sheffield Botanical Gardens, Clarkehouse Road, Sheffield S10 2LN
The Botanical Gardens
Sheffield's Botanical Gardens opened in 1836 and were fully restored at a cost of almost £6.7m in the early 2000s. The gardens include 15 distinct areas and a number of fine historic listed buildings.
We can spend time here at leisure exploring this 19 acre site. Better still admission is completely free!
