Sunrise Peak at Sunrise via 136th St Spur Trail on a Sunday

Hello Fellow Hikers,

87th hike with the club,

So, after much thought, we have decided to do a Sunday hike.  This is going to be a Theme hike.  Sunrise Peak at Sunrise.  This Peak is named Sunrise Peak for a reason.  It is because of the amazing views that the are visible during daybreak.  When is Rome, do as the Romans do.

So the game plan is to meet at the Sunrise Peak Trail Head on 144th St.  Be there at 5:30am.  We will then be dropping a few vehicles in this parking lot, consolidating vehicles, and driving down the road 2 miles to the 136th St Spur Trail Head.  This Trail is is not taken very often, as it offers Boulder Hopping and Scrambling.  This area is more popular for the Lost Dog Trail Head and Sunrise.  So we probably wont see anyone on the Spur Trail.  We will take this trail for 2 miles.  We will basically be in the Wash and the Canyon the whole way up to the Ridgeline, approximately 2 miles.  Once we reach the Ridgeline, we will hang a right and head over to the Summit, break, and then descend down to the Sunrise Trail Parking Lot where we dropped vehicles that morning.

Yes, I know it is early.  Yes, I know it is Sunday.  Go to bed early Saturday night.  And go to a late service for Church on Sunday, if that is what you do.  We will be done early.  We should be done around 8:30am.  See........ you have the whole morning left to do with what you want.

Total mileage will be approximately 5 miles. 2 miles of Wash and Canyon.

Bring gloves for the boulder hopping.

Hike is rated Upper Moderate.  If you don't like boulder hopping, you don't want to come on this hike.

We will be moving quick so that we can attempt to get to the Summit by Sunrise.  So, Boulder Hopping quickly may prove to be too much for you........And you know the drills in our club,..... if you lag behind. you can catch us at the Summit, where we will be waiting with strawberries and champagne.

Well, I thought you needed to go into and over those rocks near the beginning. Was it totally clear sailing from there? Your sunrise hike looked breathtaking and it looked as if you were all trying to make the bottom part very easy in order to make me look foolish -or else you are just ROCKSTARS-which you know you are! Wish I could have been there-looked like a hearty fun group!
Cheers to the rest of your day!

There was probably 4 or 5 Class 3 Climbs, but nothing too serious. We love abnormal trail kind of stuff. Glad you liked the pics and we hope to see you on the trail sometime with us soon.

Tried this once about a yr. ago. Could not find trail very early on. Kept trying. Known as passage for javelina. Told by security man at next door housing area that no one does it because the bottom is so rough. (I know it looks lovely from top-perfectly manicured).
You guys are power rangers especially so early. I'd wear gloves and a long shirt for sure. Have fun! Take pictures. I have to see this. The Mcs are my stomping grounds.
