Get ready for an adventure:
Timing is key thing here. If you are running late, you could miss the tram, forewarning.
We are headed to Sabino Canyon in Tucson. The Sabino Canyon Tour Center.
Well, here we go for July's Water Hike: This will be an 8 mile Round Trip hike. Yes it will be hot. Undeniably. However, I am not going to hike here in the Winter time and not be able to swim. This is a popular local spot for swimming. Only way to beat the crowds is to show up BEFORE the first tram. It will be $8.00 per person for a tram ride. Bring Cash. BRING CASH.
Oh, it is also $5.00 to enter the park. CAR POOL. Parking will be a problem.
There will be cliff jumping and swimming. This is optional. You do not have to either if you do not wish to.
The tram is also optional, but if you wish to boycott the tram, you will add an extra 8 miles, making it 16 miles. Good luck with that.
We will take the tram to Shuttle stop # 9 from the Sabino Canyon Trail Tram.
We will need to be at the tram station at 8:30am. Which means we will have to leave Cracker Barrel at 6:30am. Which means we will need to have a meetup time of 6:00am. We wait 15 minutes, and then go over safety details, and depart on the dot at 6:30am. Please go to the bathroom and fill up with gas BEFORE you come there. Please note, that if you have to stop to pee or fill up for gas, you may miss the tram ride or not get a ticket, as the tram will fill up quickly.
They have bathrooms at the tram ticket counter. So go to the bathroom between 6:00 - 6:15am, then hold your bladder until we arrive on site.
Bring a minimum of 5 liters of water. It will be HOT. IT WILL BE HOT. Did you hear me? It will be Extremely hot.
You should be a great physical condition to do this hike at this time of the year. Be prepared to be in the Sun for 10 hours. You will be cooked by the time we are done.
But this is an Arizona Water Hiking destination, and must be placed on the bucket list.
We will spend about an hour at the pools.
