Hello fellow hikers,
65th hike of the Club:
So this hike will be a little exploratory hike. We will need to carpool from the large Holbert Trail Parking Lot and car pool up to the "Triangle" parking Lot. There is minimum parking here at "The Triangle".
This will be approximately 4 - 5 miles in total. However, there will be some bushwhack going up Vampire Canyon. This will be steep. So there will be some Off Trail hiking. We will stop and explore around the abandoned mine camp area and possibly explore a little in the Max Delta Mine itself. Bring a flashlight or a head lamp. Keep in mind, I will not break rules. If it says keep out, I will keep out, however, if you google Max Delta Mine, you see plenty of people going in there, a little ways, and having a little fun exploring around. When we leave the mine area, we go strait up the mountain via Vampire Canyon until we join the National Trail. This will be a rough go, but it will be short. When we return, we will come down Ranger to Derby but we will drop into Burrito Wash and take that back to The Triangle.
Get ready for a fun hike, shorter hike, labeled as Moderate.
Here are a couple video links of Luis climbing up some of the veins we were down in. They are dark, but what can I say, we were in a dark cave.

Ok, so this ended up being a super cool hike. We explored Max Delta Mine and went all the way back in. We had to rope down and up the veins inside the mine. I never knew a place like this existed, right in South Mountain. We then boulder hopped right up Vampire Canyon. Pretty cool hike today.

In case you are wondering, we are meeting at the very same place we always have met in the Holbert trail area. Which is, as soon as you pull into the gigantic parking lot area, please hang a first LEFT, not right. Look for the Black Avalanche. We will Car pool from here up to the triangle.

Hi everyone, just in case you were wondering if it rains on Saturday, I do NOT cancel hikes for inclement weather. It has to be torrential downpour with lightning for me to not hike. I am not a "fair-weather" hiker...lol....... raining only makes it more fun.
