Pyramid Trail, Pyramid Canyon, National Trail, Eliminator Trail Run Return Loop

Hello fellow hikers,

So this will be a little adventure for the day. We will begin the journey on the Pyramid Trail, however, we will soon branch off and when the Pyramid Trail begins up the mountain, we will take the Wash to left, which soon turns into a Canyon ascent. We will take this Canyon all the way to the top of the mountain, boulder hopping and scrambling, until it meets up with the National Trail. When we reach the Nat Trail we will make a left and bring it back until we reach the Mine Drop, which we will take the left onto Mine Drop Split, and at the Split we will keep left, which is the Eliminator Trail. This Trail is my favorite Trail Running Trail. This Trail is steep and fun. This will bring us back to the Lost Ranch Mine Trail which takes us back to the Pyramid Trail. So this is what they refer to as a lolly-pop loop.

This will be an estimated 6.5- 7.0 mile round trip hike. With the Canyon adventure added to this hike, I would say this is classified at the upper end of moderate, almost in the Strenuous category. However, those that have never done canyoneering or boulder hopping may find this in the Strenuous category.

Those that love to Trail Run, and never Trail Ran down the Eliminator owe it to themselves to do so. This Trail is a bucket list Trail for Trail Runners. No, you don't have to run down this Trail, but those that do Trail Run will find themselves with a big smile on their face.

Pyramid Canyon will be a slower moving adventure, but fun.

Took my boys up this today. They had a great time and it wasn't 28 degrees when we started! -> bonus. They said it was more like a "valley" than a canyon...

I had a great time!! But I was a bit frustrated going up the rocks and boulders as I was quite slow - I do not care a lot for heights and have some problems with balance

An amazing Canyoneering experience. Pyramid Canyon proved to be an awesome experience and a heck of a workout.

Hi! Quick question-are dogs okay? I know they are allowed on south mountain, but wasn't sure if it was okay with the group! Let me know :) thanks!

We are doing a canyoneering trip on a Canyon and then we are trail running down a very small trail with drop offs on each side, so it may not be safe to bring a dog on this one. We have to keep a decent pace because of cold weather a,d the dog could delay progress. I would say to do a hike with us first without a dog to determine if a dog coming along next time would be ok.

lol..... never understood the fair weather thing. Harsh elements only build one's character to be able to overcome other adversity in life. Outside the comfort zone is where we grow, however Americans have become so complacent. It will only be cold until we start moving.....lol.........

Yes, it is going to be cold on Saturday morning. No Rain at all in the forecast. Sunny day. Dress warm. It will be roughly 28 degrees where we will be at on Sat morning where we are meeting......lol..... that stuff doesn't bother me, other than I will want to get moving as to warm up....lol.

FYI: I switched this from a 7am meetup time to 6:30am. This parking area has been filling up very quick on Saturday mornings. So in an attempt to make parking easier for everyone, we will meetup at 6:30am.
