My favorite outdoor activities include but are not limited to paddling, hiking with my dog, Tyler, and managing my yards.
The coolest place I've been to is Antartica on assignment to manage and record garbage.
The most adventurous thing I've done is live on my 28' Westsail for 3 years.
My favorite getaway spot is rather large: I love motoring down Hwy 395 from Reno, NV to Death Valley, CA (i.e., Mount Lassen, Mono Lake, the east side of Yosemite, Bear Valley, ...) where I can find opportunities to paddle, hike, backpack, camp, ski, explore and relax (not to mention, get-away-from-it-all).
I'd been a member and organizer of Tennessee Valley Adventure since 2007. Outdoor South absorbed the club a few months ago and I came along with the package
Outdoor Club South is an amazing organization. It gives me the ability to participate with a variety of people from various chapters.
Missed you on the float today. Hope all is well with you.
Thanks for the info. Some of the rivers you mentioned look really interesting. Unfortunately we don't have the time to travel to most of them this trip. I will definitely keep them in mind for future trips.
And if so, why do you prefer that river to the Elk?
Debra, I'm putting together an overnight kayak trip with a couple of friends. We are looking to do about 25 to 30 miles on an overnight, or possibly about 50 on a two night trip. Can you suggest a good river. I was thinking about the Elk, either the lake putting in at Winchester, and going to the dam, or launching below the dam and taking out at Fayettville. I noticed in one of you post that you didn't think the Elk was a very good paddle, can you suggest a better alternative?
Wow! You've added a lot of new events today. I'm excited to get involved with this group and hope to get to meet you at a hike sometime soon.
Hope your hangin' okay :D Thoughts are with you!
Thanks for the greeting, Debra. I hope I live up (?) to your expectations.
Thanks for your note, Debra. I exoect to be around your neighborhood in about two months.
Thanks for the greeting. I look toward to it
as well. Are children welcome
to most gatherings? I have 2 sons ages 12 and 9. They handle themselves
fairly well on the water.
Hi Debra.. Thanks~ hehe. I won't be making the next two weekend paddling trips as I will be either out-of-town or doing a Triathlon at Guntersville. Have fun~ Cheers!
