From classical to contemporary, this new film and speaker series showcases some of the most inspiring music documentaries from around the world, pairing them with special guests selected by The Royal Conservatory of Music. Each week we will explore a different musical genre and style, featuring a stimulating post-screening discussion with eminent scholars and musicians provided by the RCM.

Post-screening discussions will be moderated by Mervon Mehta, Executive Director of Performing Arts at The Royal Conservatory.

Monday Nov 4 Jazz on a Summer's Day:

With a dazzling display of rich human observation Jazz On A Summer’s Day features some of the most remarkable scenes of live jazz ever brought to the screen including performances by legendary artists such as Louis Armstrong, Anita O’Day, Mahalia Jackson and Thelonious Monk.

Special Guests: Joe Sealy, Jazz pianist; Jackie Richardson, singer

I have purchased a ticket for all four events and hope that some of you can join me.

I'll aim to be in the lineup to get into the theatre by 5:45 p.m.

Let me know if you're coming and I'll send you my cell #, perhaps we can meet up before the movie and find seats together or go for a drink & snacks at Pauper's pub across the street afterwards.

I will be close to the front of the line waiting to get in. Not sure if that will be outside or in the lobby - depends on the weather and mood of the staff. I will have a short black coat and a bright red silk scarf with music score printed on it. We normally sit on the main floor, on the right hand aisle about 1/2 way down. I will come out to the lobby to look for you between 6 and 6:15.
