Jazz Vespers : Horace Silver Tribute

Please note this is an Anglican service, if you are not comfortable in religious settings do NOT sign up for this event.

This afternoon service will include plenty of music, a reflective reading, prayers for our city and the world, and a congregational hymn!

It is one of their most popular services - with wonderful music, and with some of the finest jazz artists in Canada. The acoustics are stellar, the performers fantastic, the price is right and there is no sermon - so not a full blown religious service if you are worried about that.

Service begins at 4:30 p.m.

Please be at the church by 4:00 p.m.

We typically sit at the front on the left hand side of the church

There is no admission charge, but donations to support the program will be collected.

Performance scheduled for today: Tribute to Horace Silver

Performance by: Brian Barlow Quartet

Horace Silver was known for his distinctive humorous and funky playing style and for his pioneering compositional contributions to hard bop. He was influenced by a wide range of musical styles, notably gospel music, African music, and Latin American music and sometimes ventured into the soul jazz genre.

For those interested, one of our members has an art exhibit currently on at Christ Church Deer Park. We can go for a viewing after the service.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
