Salon 21 - Soundstreams presents Middle Eastern Music

For the past 3 years, TML  has been checking out new contemporary classical music the Salon 21

It's a chance to learn about new music, hear from the composers, and get sound bites of full performances for FREE!

There's always interesting nibblies to munch on and inexpensive wine to enjoy while having our horizons broaden - if only for an hour :)

Tonight's event focuses on :

Instruments of the Middle East - Then & Now: Much of the music we enjoy today, and many of the instruments that are used to play it, sprang from a Middle Eastern tradition that stretches back 5,000 years. Take a trip back through the millennia and hear how our music has evolved from these ancient times.

Meet and Greet: 7:00 pm

Presentation starts: 7:30 pm, with live music and lots of time for questions
Please be there no later than 6:45, and we will go up to the 3rd floor to get some seats

Otherwise, look for me upstairs

it might have been bone chilling cold out tonight, but the music brought a gentle warmth to the soul, it was almost meditative in quality, lovely. we got to hear both classical and more contemporary Persian music played on santur, oud, tar and daf, by 2 extremely talented Persian musicians who now call Toronto home. many thanks to everyone who came out to partake in such an evening of excellence

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
