This will be our 2nd monthly propagation get together. This time, we will propagate passion fruit using different methods - rooting from clippings, air layering and Jim Neitzel will share a special trick he learned from an old timer. Bob Holzinger is the man when it comes to passion fruit. he is growing more varieties than anybody I know of and will be bringing clippings. Yeah!
Ben Kotnik, CRFG president and owner of Suburban Farms will show us how to put together a simple misting box, and, if all falls into place, Manuel will share his not so simple set up.
If you have an interesting passion fruit growing in your yard, please bring lots of clippings. I have a big Frederick - we should be good on that variety.
I am expecting quite a few brand new citrus trees and we (Jim, not me:) are going to show you the process of citrus budding. That way, you can grow more than one variety on one root stock.
If time allows, we might talk about and do some berry propagation as well.
Keeping with the tradition of my homeland, a Sunday afternoon calls for coffee (or tea) and goodies. Please bring some of the bounty of your garden or any other yummies you might want to share. We'll have coffee, tea, herbal tea and water and something good. My house is a no waste zone (at least as little as possible). Bring your own dishes, no disposables please, or use mine and give a hand with clean up.
See you there!
