Core Monday Morning meet up - Urban Goat Keeping with Laura Hershey

Laura Hershey will come and share all she knows about Urban goat keeping and how to change the laws if your city does not allow goats yet.

This is what Laura has to say about herself:

I have kept Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats here in San Diego since 2004. I make yoghurt and cheese, trim my own goat hooves and give my own goat shots.
I participated in multiple meetings when the City of San Diego accepted a $50,000. grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention federal agency. The object of the grant was to look at our Urban Agriculture Regulations with the idea of making fresh healthy food more accessible to San Diego residents.
I can talk about how to comply with those regulations which went into effect in April 2012, and answer questions about keeping goats in an urban setting.
I work as a Non Force Chiropractor here on the site where my goats decorate the back yard. The chiropractic patients can look out the treatment window and see the miniature goats hanging out.
I grow edible landscaping for myself and my chickens and goats here on the 50' x 80' property in Ocean Beach.
Gail Damerow's "Your Goats" is my favorite book on how to take care of goats.
I look forward to sharing my experience, and hearing what other goat-keepers have to say.

Bunny was born 28 June 2013. She is for sale.
