Learn how to start a garden and be successful growing your own food. This class will cover eight lessons on the basics of gardening, including, but not limited to and not necessarily in this order:

*organics and permaculture;

*garden siting and design;

*soil and composting;

*plants and botany;

*seeding and planting;

*irrigation;

*weeds, pests, and disease;

*harvesting.

This series will provide students with a mix of classroom education and hands-on garden experience. Classes will be held on 6 Saturdays, starting on May 10, 2014.

We encourage you to come to all classes, but if you only can make it to a few - let us know.

Similar, less in depth, classes are offered around the county for $ 75. However, we want this class to be open to all and will offer it as a "pay what you can" class.

Meet your teacher:
Michelle received her bachelor's in Landscape Architecture from Washington State University. She now works as a landscape designer with emphasis in native landscapes, edibles, Permaculture design and educating the public in sustainable design. Her company Edge + Element Design focuses on getting the most out of spaces, uses sustainable materials and making the world a better place.

Meet your host:
Marianne is an educator and community activist. She teaches regular Yoga classes, is proud of successfully completing two Permaculture Design Courses (PDC) - one in San Diego with the very excellent Josh Robinson and one with the foremost leader in the Permaculture World, Geoff Lawton. She also is a Master Composter with the Solana Center and teaches classes on composting and various Permaculture related subjects.

    Just letting you know that I turned on the pay with credit card option per request of a couple of the attendees. It is still a pay what you can class. If you find it helpful to have the charge option, please let me know and I will make it available for the following met ups as well. You are free to attend no matter what, pay one time, something every time or pay it forward in some other way….
