Trails ~N~ Tails & it's organizers welcome you to our group!
This group is open for anyone wanting to hike with or without a dog. We participate in local events under the same accord. If you have a dog and want to do more with your dog regardless of breed, size or ability. There is a trail or event to cover a wide variety of interests.
HIKING - Trail hikes generally occur on the CT Shoreline and up the CT River. Each hike varies in length, duration and ability which is outlined in the event description. This year we will be taking on the DEEP 2016 Hiking Challenge. Anyone wanting to bring their dog are welcome to do so. CT State Law Requires Dogs to be on leash. *Most importantly— For the safety and well being of all participants we discourage participants who’s dogs respond poorly to other dogs; do not have reliable cues or tend to engage in hard escalating play. DISCLAIMER—Participants understand the inherent risk and participate at their own discretion. All persons are responsible for the safety and well being of him/herself and his/her children & pet(s). EVENTS - ~We attend annual events such as the Durham Pet Fair, Essex Ed Parade.... and pair them with a hike.(either are optional) Your dog get's the exercise it needs which enables them to partake in other activities that provide added socialization.
~We walk as a team during fundraising dog walks that support foundations such as the Humane Society, a local shelter or Cancer Research.
~We sit in as spectators or participants at Pet Shows or dog sporting activities like Frisbee, agility, obedience, training etc.
~We meet at parks for socialization and energy release; or our favorite swimming hole for a romp and a ball throw.
$5.00 annually to help defray the cost to register with meetup.com.
The Organizer is Certified with the American Red Cross in Animal First Aid and CPR, is a Dog Bite Prevention Specialist, CGC-E and a Professional Dog Trainer, APDT.
