Denver's Stapleton Central Park (map)
"Let's go fly a kite, up to the highest heights...." Remember that song? We don't have to be Mary Poppins to fly a kite, and then have a walking chat together. Our June event will be especially wonderful!
This time, our monthly collaborative event in Stapleton Central Park will be a part of the 5th annual "A Taste of Puerto Rico Festival". Many thanks for this opportunity go to the festival's founder, Alvin Velasquez, the Rocky Mountain Kite Association (RMKA) organizer Robin McCracken, GusTwinds founder Randy King, and the co-founders of the One Sky One World international kite fly for peace, Larry Ambrose and Jane Parker Ambrose.
From 10 AM to 3:30 PM in the designated kite flying area in the soccer fields on the east side of the children's playground, volunteers will be sharing kites and helping festival participants to enjoy a kite-flying experience. We'll be sharing single-line kites of many shapes and sizes in the festival's designated kite flying area.
You can be one of the volunteers to bring kites to share flying, or simply have fun flying your kites or our kites with us.
If you come early, in addition to sharing kites to fly, you'll have a chance to enjoy the wonderful food and music.
If you would like, you could take a break from the festival from 4-5 PM to join a walking chat with the collaborative Topic-Talk Walks (TTW) Meetup group. Richard and Fran will meet the walking conversation group by the 3'x5' yellow Smiley flag meeting place next to the festival's designated kite flying area.
TTW's fascinating scheduled walk guest is- Mark Mehringer, Colorado House of Representatives candidate for House District 7. Mark is going to volunteer to help visitors fly kites from about 2-3 PM.
RMKA's co-organizers, Robin and Nicole, will be leading the interactive designated kite flying section for this festival from 10 AM to 7 PM. Our collaborative RMKA and TTW Meetup groups will be joined by Randy King and his GusTwinds flag kites. When the winds get gusty enough, Fran and Richard will interactively share their Ben Franklin flag kite, and also their flag kite of a satellite view of the earth. Randy will be demonstrating many Puerto Rican flag kites. Of course we'll also share light weight colorful octopus kites. Robin, Nicole, Larry and Jane have a wide variety of beautiful kites to interactively share and fly together with the festival visitors.
Off site parking will be located in the Stapleton Town Center area behind King Soopers, and a shuttle bus will be available to get to the festival area. See linked Google map below. Number 1 is the area for off-site parking, and number 2 is the area for the designated kite flying. The middle location is the pavilion area where the festival will be taking place. Feel free to call either Fran [masked] or Robin [masked] on our cell phones if you have any trouble finding us.
Mark Mehringer, State House of Representatives candidate for District 7. In addition to Mehringer's BS and MS degrees in government and politics, and his extensive campaign support leadership, he has also served his community as past President of the Stapleton United Neighbors (SUN).
Fran was particularly impressed with the efficient Plan-to-Action way the SUN association's leaders planned their Outreach Committee meetings right before their SUN Board Meetings. SUN's homepage says that on the 4th Monday of each month, the SUN Outreach Committee, which Mark told me was primarily for SUN's 173 block captains, meets at 6:30 pm in the Stapleton Community Room at 2823 Roslyn St, followed by the SUN Board Meeting at 7:30 pm.

"A Taste of Puerto Rico Festival" is open today, despite the rainy weather. For anyone who wants to share the fun of a rainy adventure, please be sure to wear boots and layers to keep warm and dry. The cool humidity today will resemble an ocean front experience.
