If you're coming out to the meetup tomorrow (Saturday) night, be sure to bring your camera and your longest lens. Not only will it be Cinco de Mayo, but we will be experiencing what's known as a "Super Moon".
The moon will officially become full Saturday (May 5) at 8:35 p.m. PDT. And because this month's full moon coincides with the moon's perigee — its closest approach to Earth — it will also be the year's biggest.
Ironically, the this year's apogee — when the moon is farthest from Earth — occurs on November 28th, my birthday. ;-/
If we have a cloudless night, it could make for some interesting photographs as the big hunk of cheese will be a full 16 percent brighter than a regular full moon.
