I am happy to host the next one. Can the people that attended comment on the suitability of the venue for a meetup. Were people able to find you easily? Was there plenty of space etc.

Hi Kara, great to hear you want to help out with the next event. PING was a very good start to get to know each other a bit. It was also fun playing, especially that it was for free :). Honestly, did not expect to be able to play as expected to be quite busy considering that it is a bar and also no fee charged for the table. So, it was a nice surprise to actually playing that night.

      1 · February 24, 2014

    • Elena M.

However, the place is indeed a bit too busy and noisy if you want to play more. So, next time would suggest to find other type of place, and afterwards to head to a bar for socialising. Let's how it goes :). In the end, what matters is to have a good time. Otherwise, we could register for a professional club if we really want to be serious about it :). Hope it helps.

I will provide balls and have two spare bats.As first ever trip to Ping not sure exactly what equipment they have.Checkout Sportsdirect website for bats.Last Thursdays event hosted by Elena went well.Hoping that being Friday night still able to get tables. The other alternative is Bounce but that is £26 per hour per table not that cheap but does guarantee tables.
Let's see how we get on @ Ping first.

I'm thinking that I might come to the next one. Was it a decent venue, with proper tables and room to play properly? I'm a keen player you see, plus I don't mind the odd drink too.

When a Meetup is organised perhaps whoever's in charge can post it under something other than "Hello everyone! It would be nice to have a TT meetup soon:)" so that we all know a Meetup has been arranged & that it it's not just another addition to the lengthy chat about the possibility! ;-)

Good place to get bats Sportsdirect.
Stiga & Schildkrot perfectly good bats to play with .
When i organise events i will provide 3 Star balls as they are longer lasting than 1 Star.

I'd like to ask few questons about thursday meetup. Do i need my own racket, balls? or is it available to rent? thank you

    February 18, 2014

    • Elena M.

To be honest, I do not know. I would say you don't need it but to be on the safe side, bring them with you. Personally I don't have any equipment available here in London.

I added the location at PING Earls Court. I called them earlier and apparently we do not need to reserve tables to play as they are on first come, first served. Unless we come only for drinks and ping pong (i.e. no dining), there is no need for reservation. We can give it a try on Thursday, we will get to know each other a bit more and if other more experienced organisers can step in, we can have have further meetups more focused on playing rather than socialising. As I mentioned, I am not the best person in arranging such events, but due to the enthusiastic response, thought to give it a try this time :). Thank you and see you on Thursday!

I don't know exactly how to insert more details on the location part. However, the address for PING is 180 - 184 Earl's Court Road, SW5 9Q6. Phone:[masked]

    1 · February 17, 2014

PING on Earls Court road close to the tube has 4/5 tables and is a nice pub too (plus a hard to get into club on the weekends) so can we not give that a whirl...lets make a start instead of waiting for a consensus :)

    1 · February 17, 2014

  • Dhaivat

Hello everyone, if there are around 50 people I think we will need 3-4 tables for around 4-5 hours.

    February 15, 2014

  • Liam

Your basic two options are a sports hall with multiple tables, followed by drinks, or a pub with (probably) one bookable table, interspersed by drinks. But you can't expect to please everyone, or to have everyone available for an inaugural event, so best thing is probably to simply just pick a date and location and encourage people to help nominate subsequent events. (Some at weekends, some outdoors in summer, some weekdays...) I don't think arranging these things by committee is going to work...

    1 · February 15, 2014

  • krys

Hi. I can't make it either. In fact, what we need is a sports hall that can cater for at least 2-3 tables

    1 · February 15, 2014

Can't make 20th - lets see if that date sticks!

What are the best times for this group to meet.
    Friday evenings, Saturday daytime/evening
    Sunday daytime.
Initially I can only attend 1 event per month. An assistant organiser('s) would be most welcome if you want to do more regularly.
Old China Hand looks a good venue.
In the future would like to participate in something called Pongathon looks amazing ( like a Ping pong party).

Hi Peter, thank you for stepping in :). Will travel for work the entire week so a bit hectic I am afraid. Would much appreciate it if you can proceed further with the logistics or date, if Friday is perhaps better. I trust that any decision would be very good :). Thank you!

I would suggest on Thursday, 20th Feb at 7 pm. Hope this is ok? If someone can help out with the place, would be great :). A central location is best indeed for everyone. Thank you!

There's a single outdoor table close to Southwark Street. Would be nice for a slightly smaller group when spring comes along.

    1 · February 9, 2014

The best place I know Is PING in Earls Court....central and lots of tables.

    1 · February 9, 2014

I'm interested to check this place out.

      February 9, 2014

There's an outdoor table in Portobello Green, very close to Ladbroke grove station. Anybody fancy a game there some sunny day? I'm self-employed and live round the corner so any time is fine for me. I used to be intermediate but will be rusty.

    1 · February 8, 2014

Can we find a Youth Club or Chruch Hall to play in with a pub round the corner?...bit psd off with having to pay £20 an hour these days to play Ping Pong

    1 · February 8, 2014

  • Liam

Vague, very vague - but in principle I'm in! Old China Hand was usual place before, one table is enough if it can be booked, where else can we go?

    1 · February 8, 2014

  • Elena M.

Lovely to see that the group is becoming active and ladies are on board :).

    February 8, 2014

  • Jonathan

There's a nice pub in Fulham called the Hurlingham, but it's only got one table. I've heard good things about the Old China Hand as well. And of course Bounce in Holborn.

    1 · February 8, 2014

  • Caroline

What about the Old China Hand? Fairly central, free etc...

    1 · February 7, 2014

  • Paul G.

Haven't played for ages so expecting to be trounced. Evenings better than weekends; East or central better than West ... but that's just me. I'll try to make the effort wherever it is ;)
