Hosting an event on the Super Bowl Sunday. In previous years I have invited friends to watch the Super Bowl, but half of us end up playing some kind of game and leave the Super Bowl on the background for those that are hardcore Football fans. Given that the Patriots are not playing this year, I think it is time to give it a try to stop pretending that the Bowl is the most important game of the day.
Enter ideas for what to play on the comments. Being a Sunday we may have time for the longer type of games. Or maybe it is an opportunity to play more relaxed games (to allow for half listening to what is going on the game while having a beer). Or maybe you have some sports themed game (Blood Bowl or Dreadball?).
No need to bring anything, but if you insist, feel free to bring anything you normally eat / drink during Football games. As the game time approaches we will probably order some pizza depending on attendance and hungry-ness.
You can invite others and you can bring your family. Smaller kids are welcome to join mine in a young-kid-appropriate boardgame (Kids of Catan, Ticket to Ride or Monopoly Jr for example) or play Legos in the playroom. Bigger kids and other friends/family are welcome to join us in whatever we are playing, or if they are of the non-gaming sort to just watch the game or socialize.
Since the Patriots are not playing I have chosen to root for the Broncos - even if they won against the Patriots. (Given that I work with a lot of colleagues in Fort Collins, CO - one of the reasons I am not always in the area to join you).
