Andy Davis: Climbing adventures in Argentina from Aconcagu
7:00pm - Come see our great orientation show of the programs and courses offered by the Tacoma Mountaineers. We welcome new members, prospects and friends. Bring the family to see what we do including climbing and scrambling, sea kayaking, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, social & family activities, first aid, sailing, navigation, avalanche training, and more. This will be a chance to visit with committee people in activities of interest to you.
7:45pm - Join Andy Davis for a slideshow adventure through the breathtaking terrain and culture of Argentina. From the wine tours of Mendoza and working on a farm to the windswept summit of Aconcagua. Follow their adventures as Andy and his girlfriend Kelsey enjoy climbing "terrena aventura" in Los Arenales and then on to the alpine playground of spires in Frey. The trip culminates in Patagonia where a fortunately timed weather window gives them the opportunity to ascend climbs of a lifetime before heading home.
After graduating from the University of Puget Sound with a degree in music performance Andy pursued his passion for climbing and outdoor education. He has been a fixture at Edgeworks climbing gym and instrumental in its success over the years as well as teaching outdoor education classes for the University of Puget Sound and leading numerous courses for NOLS. You may see him in the gym, out sport climbing or even bouldering but he is happiest in his natural habitat of the mountains. Join him at The Mountaineers' Tacoma Program Center on Friday, May 17th for a fun evening of tales of travels, triumphs, and tribulations.
Afterwards: Come join us at The Spar about 9:15 by the front window for food and conversation. See you there! Karen
