Hike Green Mountain, Bremerton

Hike in the Green Mountain Recreation area, Saturday 11/30.  If the weather is favorable, we'll hike to the top of Green Mountain for views of Puget Sound, Seattle skyline, Mount Rainier, and the Olympics (1,000 foot elevation gain, 5.5 miles round trip, difficulty: moderate, pace: social).  Alternative trails are available also, will change the route according to weather.  Plan to hike about 3 hours.

Green Mountain is surrounded by 6,000 acres of state forest.  Access point will be the Gold Creek Trail.  This is a popular multiuse trail (mainly hikers, occasional horseback riders, mountain bikers, motorcycle or ATV).  The area is on DNR land, so open for hunting also in certain areas (wear bright colors).  There are restrooms at the trailhead.

Bring: hiking poles, ten essentials, lunch/water, raingear,
binoculars, $ to each driver for gas, each car needs a discover pass.

Meeting location for carpool:

Gig Harbor Park and Ride, 6808 Kimball Dr.,Gig Harbor, WA 98335

Off the Olympic exit in Gig Harbor (coming from Tacoma), turn right off ramp,
then another right on Kimball Dr.

Park and Ride will be on your right hand side past some
retail shops, enter the 2nd driveway, past the bus stop, across the
street from Gateway to India Restaurant.  Leaving P&R at 8:45 gets us to the trailhead by 9:30.

Current forecast: cloudy, 10-20% chance of rain, high 47. Rain does not cancel the hike.

Thanks for scheduling a hike. I've got a commitment to pick some people up at the airport on Saturday, so I can't make it.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
