Denny Creek Natl. Forest Group Camping

This is a forest service campground close to the summit of Snoqualmie Pass.  We have the only group camp site and there are many trailheads that start just beyond this campground.  We are planning on bringing a 10 x 20 ft. Costco fully enclosed canopy due to the possibility of inclement weather.  We will at a later date decide how we plan to handle the food.  Jim plans to bring his kitchen.

Bring your tent, sleeping bag, 10 essentials and a chair for the campfire. More details will be posted as we get closer to the date.

Please send checks to James Manny for $30. per person,  to cover the camp site,  or $60. per person, to cover food and camp site. Make checks  out to James Manny,[masked]th St E., Bonney Lake, WA 98391.

See you there!

Directions from Auburn:  Take the exit onto WA 18 E, Merge onto I-90E , take exit 47 toward Denny Creek/Asahel Curtis, turn left onto Asahel Curtis Rd/NF-56, turn right onto NF-9034, take the first left onto NF-5800, turn Left onto FS-5830.

I second that Eddie and thanks to you for all that you brought to the party as both you and Jimmy have the best gadgets and we all had a great time doing our part in what ever we could do. Looking forward to August :)

Thanks for a great event. Bad weather is no match for our group. We hiked, stayed warm + dry, well fed and no shortage of drinks either. Terrific group of people made set up and tear down quick. Looking forward to Jarrell Cove in August.

    Hi James and everybody,

I'm so sorry I wasn't able to attend this function.....I was looking forward to it so much. I contacted Karen,
since her's was the only number I had, to advise you
that I had a problem with my vehicle and turned around at Issaquah. Looks like I'm going to have to
replace my alternator. A very nice gentleman at
    Mark's Japanese/European auto repair put a charger
on my battery so that I could limp back home.

I fell badly that I told you I would come and then was
a no-show....was looking forward to meeting everyone.

I'm still hoping to connect with you at Jarrell Cove.
All the sites are full....I have the RV.... but there may
be something available if I arrive there early. I'll
be in touch later......have a great weekend!!

Just RSVP'd. Will send check tomorrow for food and campsite. Will arrive Thursday night and leave Saturday after dinner.... Will drive my mini motorhome--do not need water or electrical hook-up---as it is just a tent on wheels. I have lots of clean, dry firewood I could bring, but the camp rules say to purchase firewood at site. Look forward to seeing everyone.

Audrey - you won't need 10 Essentials unless you plan to go hiking someplace. I don't know what, if any, hikes may be planned. If you're driving up you might want to bring an extra quilt and a nice pillow :-)

I have changed one date for this event. We will have the campsite Thursday night instead of Monday. So the event will be the Thursday the26 to Sunday the 29th. Most people will only come for Friday and Saturday night. I will be there Thursday afternoon if other want to come early. This campground is about seventy miles from Tacoma.

the site has flush toilets and electric but no showers. I had planned on purchasing a portable shower and tent made for a shower. with the lack of funds sent, I will be unable to do this. Every year I try to purchase equipment like the large BBQ the 10X20 garage, a turkey cooker with the little extra money left over after expenses.

While several people have signed up to go only about six people have paid. We normally go to Costco purchase great food and eat like kings. I have received even fewer dollars for food. The campsite was paid up front by South Sound Singles. I am currently in school full time and unable this year to front money for food. If checks don't start arriving soon we will all be cooking and eating on our own. I am good either way. I will plan on purchasing food for the people who have paid. I am bringing a Costco 10x20 portable building and a couple of large covers. if anyone can bring wood or could haul wood please contact me. Carpooling works best due to us all being single. I always bring two sleeping bags and two tents. The extra sleeping bag goes underneath me then if the weather get cold I can put it on top. I have 3 & 5 pound sleeping bags for different weather. We will be camping about 2500 foot level so night will be cool. my address[masked]th st E Bonney Lake 98391

I loved it last year on Whidbey Island and we all had a blast and I did gain a lb after all was said and done as we do eat well!! The price is well worth it that's why I'm in ~ great people, great place, great time!! :-)

    2 · April 26, 2014

  • James M.

We have a great time and eat well! We take turns cooking or cleaning up. I bring large camp kitchen and we purchase group food at costco. SSS meetup group has paid three hundred dollars for the site reservations. We need to get more checks to cover that and have money to buy food. These campouts are great for non campers or people who want to try camping at this part of life post children! A tent air mattress and sleeping bag is all you need. This trip is early enough that we should be able to have a great campfire. I encourage everyone to lookup the campground and events in that area to do. several hiking trails start at this campground. Snoqualmie pass ski resort is very close.

    Hi James,

I'm most interested in this event but I am having a conflict about possibly being at an event in Canada. If that doesn't come to fruition, I will definitely be joining the mountaineers for this function. I'm also interested in the Aug 7 event but I'll be having company sometimes in August. If they
don't come at that time, I'll be joining you at Jerrell Cove. Thanks for posting these events! I love the
idea you're posting camping events!!! Regards,

    Kathy

Unbelievable! Great minds think alike? We now have many things planned for this weekend! We have a wedding, a ham radio emergency exercise, a Mountaineers Potluck, my daughter's birthday, and now camping we can't go to! Do we have anything else planned for June? NO!
