Our last meetup was looking for wild salmonberries and greens in Swan Creek. This time, we are going to forage for urban edibles that are both medicinal and delicious, lining our streets and backyards. We also may visit Blueberry Park to forage for fresh blueberries, and to scout out the nut and fruit trees!
Based on Rebecca Lerner's "Dandelion Hunter" and as a follow up to our book club discussion on the 24th, we will be going over urban toxicity, legal issues, sustainability, and other key points that are unique to foraging in an urban environment.
Overall, we will be changing our relationship to "weeds," and making some new plant friends and allies in the process!
We will be meeting in the parking lot of St. Leo's like last time, and we will also be carpooling.
PLEASE COMMENT BELOW if you have a car with extra room you are willing to share! We will not be driving very far; we will be staying wthin the city limits and may not end up driving at all, depending. But it would still be nice to have a car count :-)
Hope to see you there!
