"Regularly-scheduled" 2nd Sat.-of-the-month writers' critique

We're meeting at the 208 Garfield cafe/pub/wine bar (at Garfield Books), just off Pacific Ave. in the Parkland neighborhood. From I-5, take exit 127 to Hwy 512, then exit at Pacific Ave. Take a right at the top of the off-ramp. You can take a right turn onto Garfield St. - the Farelli's pizza on the corner is a good landmark - or take the next right to park in the lot.

Current members with work for critique should post it to the wiki no later than Wednesday evening (please try to limit submissions to around 10 pages, Times New Roman 12 pt. double-spaced. This is to help reduce the strain on fellow members' eyeballs & their pocketbooks).

*** Re: extra copies. If you are a writer with work for critique, bringing a few extra copies is appreciated (particularly by 1st-timers in attendance)... but not required. If you are a new writer or a regular who has not submitted work, we ask that you bring a few pages of a work-in-progress. This is primarily a motivational tool - but we may ask you to trade pages with another member of the group for their impressions & feedback, if time permits.

New members: We welcome new members! Regularly scheduled meetings are the 2nd Sat. of each month, from 11 a.m. - 1p.m., with an alternate meeting the last Thursday of each month, from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. We may have other meetings for special topics throughout the month. Read through our FAQ (in the "Files" area of our Meet-Up site), then drop in for a meeting to check us out!

"Wounds are often kept secret from others because embedded within them is the lie—an untruth that the character believes about himself…. For example, if a man believes he is unworthy of love (the lie) because he was unable to stop his fiancée from being shot during a robbery (the wound), he may adopt attitudes, habits, and negative traits that make him undesirable to other women." -- from the Negative Traits Thesaurus by Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi <-- a fabulous resource on my list :)

    So, what's your character's wound?

I recently updated (and expanded to two pages) my 'Essential and Recommend Books' list. You can download it from MORE and the FILES (above, in the tabs).

Great group of committed writers, serious about their craft, and helping other writers. I definitely will go back.

Naw. I betcha I could have figured it out - just wasn't sure if I was allowed to :)

Yup. Not sure what happened - I think Mona's calendar had a hiccup! I fixed the title - if you click the link now, the page address will say "May 5" but the title says "May 12" (only way to change the address was to delete the page and make a new one, and there was already a story uploaded). PS: Just FYI, everyone on the wiki should have permissions to create pages - so if the one you're looking for is missing, feel free to experiment (or would a how-to doc be helpful for anyone)?

No link for uploading on the wiki page yet? There's one for last Sat - should we use that?
