"Regularly-scheduled" 2nd Sat.-of-the-month writers' critique

*** Please note the new "summer hours" for the Saturday meetup! We'll meeting from 9AM-11PM, starting in June! ***

We're meeting at the 208 Garfield cafe/pub/wine bar (at Garfield Books), just off Pacific Ave. in the Parkland neighborhood. From I-5, take exit 127 to Hwy 512, then exit at Pacific Ave. Take a right at the top of the off-ramp. You can take a right turn onto Garfield St. - the Farelli's pizza on the corner is a good landmark - or take the next right to park in the lot.

Current members with work for critique should post it to the wiki no later than Wednesday evening (please try to limit submissions to around 10 pages, Times New Roman 12 pt. double-spaced. This is to help reduce the strain on fellow members' eyeballs & their pocketbooks).

*** Re: extra copies. If you are a writer with work for critique, bringing a few extra copies is appreciated (particularly by 1st-timers in attendance)... but not required. If you are a new writer or a regular who has not submitted work, we ask that you bring a few pages of a work-in-progress. This is primarily a motivational tool - but we may ask you to trade pages with another member of the group for their impressions & feedback, if time permits.

New members: We welcome new members! Regularly scheduled meetings are the 2nd Sat. of each month, from 9 a.m. - 11a.m., with an alternate meeting the last Saturday of each month, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. We may have other meetings for special topics throughout the month. Read through our FAQ (in the "Files" area of our Meet-Up site), then drop in for a meeting to check us out!

I have a question...why does it clearly say in big letters that this meetup takes place at the Garfield Book Company when this meetup clearly doesn't take place at the Garfield Book Company? I ask because I showed up at the Garfield Book Company at 9 only to find out that the Garfield Book Company doesn't open until 10. I return home and log on here to find out that the meetup is taking place at the 208 Garfield Cafe...which is next to, but NOT the Garfield Book Company. I suppose it is my fault for assuming that when the Garfield Book Company is listed at the top in big letters that the meetup would actually take place there. I suppose I should have read further to find out the real location. Or whomever organized this could simply have put the actual location in the big letters. I am new here though, so maybe I shouldn't complain....oops, too late.

Okay, my next question is...have I made a big enough ass out of myself to not be welcome next month? ;-)

I'm out of town this weekend and on November 10th. I may try to make the Last Saturday meetings instead. Have fun!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
