Patrol Ski-Along

  • Boreal Sno-Park Parking Lot

Exit 176, Soda Springs, CA (map)

    39.323029 -120.379089

  • We will be parked near the Boreal Inn
  • The Tahoe Backcountry Ski Patrol will be heading out for a day of patrolling around the Castle Peak area near Donner Lake. We will meet at the Sno-Park parking lot at exit 176 just South of I-80 at 9AM. Depending on the day’s events, a typical patrol day ends between 4-5 PM.

A Sno-Park parking pass ($5/day) is required for all vehicles and can be purchased at the Boreal Inn right next to the Sno-Park parking lot. To participate on patrol ski-alongs, you must have your own backcountry ski/split-board equipment. TBSP will provide avalanche safety equipment including avalanche beacon, shovel, and probe as needed. The week prior to your event, a patroller will call you to coordinate your ski-along, and may be able to help with carpooling and economical lodging if required.

Since the primary duty is to patrol, the number of ski-along participants is capped at 2/day, but a waiting list is available.
