Tai chi (taijiquan) is a type of internal Chinese martial art practiced for its defense training, physical condition and health benefits. It helps improve body awareness and balance. The concentrated and synchronized movements allow people of all ages to practice whilst developing body strength, elasticity, coordination and concentration.
T Sakanaka has been practicing tai chi (taijiquan) for more than 15 years, including 10 years of teaching experience and 7 years studying in China. She has earned a Master's of Arts Degree on Traditional National (Chinese) Sports from Beijing Sport University (BSU), having solid courses on traditional and modern taijiquan from the best of Chinese university professors as well as masters. Besides that since 2003 she has had the opportunity to train as a Brazilian taijiquan athlete on the national team, joining several international competitions and earning consistently gold medals.
