Dog walk at noon - approximately 60-90 minutes .. trails will be chosen day of event. If snowy at all, yak trax are suggested! Then, help Julia and Precious celebrate Tim's 49th birthday at the Shelter House with refreshments and games. The only thing we need are games! Bring your favorite if you'd like. Then, we will finish with a late afternoon hike around 3:30. Come for the first hike, party, last hike, or any combination. We welcome old friends and new ones to this event. Dogs must be on leash and restrained and since food is in the mix, please be extra careful with the dogs. For directions:
The Ledges Shelter House is in the CVNP in Virginia Kendall. The official address is 701 Truxell Road, which is located between Old Route 8 and Akron-Peninsula Road. However, it looks like the access street, Ledges Road, is actually more like 400 Truxell Road. I've changed the map above to have the x mark the spot where the shelter is located. From new route 8, get off at Route 303 and get on the parallel road that is Old Route 8 (this road is to the west of the highway and south of 303 - there is a BP on the corner). Travel south on Old Route 8 to Truxell Road (also called Kendall Park Road) and turn right. The entrance to the Ledges Shelter House will be on the right - it is the first road (Ledges Road). If you get to Octagon Road or the Lake, you have gone too far.
