Chillin' Grillin' & Full Moon Paddlin'

  • June 14, 2014 · 6:30 PM

Full Moon kayak. Have you ever wanted to just float underneath the stars? Here’s your chance. A night time paddle is just what the doctor ordered for those of you who 1) Need a break from the hustle and bustle of life, 2) Need a little adventure, 3) Need some R&R away from the buzz of electronics, 4) Need a good post for your Facebook persona, 4) Simply looking for a good time, 5) would like to meet some new people who like to laugh and live life to the fullest.

Come out and join us for a cook out at Marsh Creek until the sun goes down. Once the sun is down we will clean up and head out for a full moon paddle. Glow sticks will be available for everyone. If you have a headlamp or small flashlight bring it along. The sight of several glows sticks floating on the water never ceases to bring a smile to my face.

We will grill and provide some light fare (menu to be provided later). Bring your own drinks. Remember that this is a state park and the state park prohibits alcoholic drinks.

Sunset is 8:31. I will be there around 6:30 to start setting up so feel free to show up any time after to meet everyone, grab some food and get your gear ready. We will shove off around 8:30pm and paddle until about 10:00ish.

Cost = $45 (includes – Kayak rental, pfd, paddle, launch permit, glow stick, food, guide & a great group of people to share the experience with).

Cost if you own your own kayak = $20 - (includes – glow stick, food, guide and a great group of people to share the experience with). Click on the link below for a map of the put in:

This was an awesome night!! Just when we thought we weren't going to see the moon we rounded a corner and there it was shining big and bright with a honey color, glimmering off the lake. The sweet smell of honey suckle in the air topped it off. I had a great night. Thanks Evan for the help and for grilling!! Thanks to everyone that came out!!!

Hey Doug, Your directions link worked good but I guess that some had issues with their GPS finding the west launch. 801 N. Reeds Rd Downingtown,PA is the address were we could see and turned into the lake. That address worked on MapQuest, Bing Maps, Yahoo Maps, and Waze.

There is another group here. Look for a red truck in the parking lot on the right as you drive in.

Do you not get my emails? If not go into the trip description and read until you see the link that shows a map of the meeting spot. We are I the west ramp across from where you are. I'd rather not post my number publicly but if you still have problems then I will

    Hey Everyone,

If you need a kayak rental I can bring you one but you have to make sure you let me know in the comments section. As of right now I am bringing kayaks for the following:

    Dan
    Ali (tandem)
    Lorrie and her +1
    Katie

If you are not on this list and need a kayak let me know as soon as you can. Please google the location and/or look at a map before you leave. Phone signals get week on some of those back roads and it’s hard to get signal sometimes. https://www.google.com/maps/place/40%C2%B003'53.5%22N+75%C2%B043'45.6%22W/@40.06487,-75.72934,15z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0?hl=en

Hey Doug, this sounds terrific. It's been so long since I've been to Marsh Creek... wondering if they have camping option at the park? Sat works better than weekdays, but it's still about an hour and half drive for me on the way home. Just curious.

    June 12

    • Doug C.

Unfortunately camping isn't allowed there. 20mi tues north and you can camp at French creek state park.
