Take The Rock Veterans Swim Challenge is a combined swim training swim event aimed at people who have served in any branch of the U.S. military.  (No Experience Necessary!) The organizers are veterans and our goal is to prepare and successfully swim from Alcatraz Island to the beach in San Francisco, a distance of approximately 1.3 miles.

Last year we had 30 swimmers, including disabled veterans, and this year we are hoping to attract 75 or more swimmers.  We especially welcome and support those with physical disabilities.

There is no charge for the coaching or the Alcatraz swim.  We are all volunteers and most or all the costs will be covered by the Vietnam Veterans of Diablo Valley, the Nadadores Locos Swim Club, and the volunteers themselves.

Whether you wish to be a swimmer, an escort kayaker, coach, boat captain, or a volunteer please simply JOIN and in the first word of your self-introduction identify yourself as either "Swimmer", "Volunteer", Boat Captain, Volunteer, or "Coach".  That will help us keep track of who is who.

Welcome!!!  This is going to be fun!

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
