San Tan Trail

Hike is postponed to Saturday, February 2nd, due to the high chance of rain on Jan 26th.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This Saturday, I am hiking the San Tan Trail in the San Tan Mountain Regional Park.  I have not been here for about six years, so it is time to go back and see how the trails have been developed over the years.

Meet me at 1:00 PM at the Home Depot parking lot, at US60 and Power Road.  We'll carpool to the trailhead.  The entry fee is $6 per vehicle.  You can also meet us at the trailhead if you live somewhere in the Southeast valley.

Park Address:

6533 West Phillips Road  Queen Creek Arizona 85242

The hike is a 7.6 mile loop.  I could not find an exact elevation gain statistic, all I saw was that there is "very little" elevation gain.  But I am still calling it Moderate due to the length.  We should see nice sunsets toward the end of the hike.

After the hike, we can get food and drinks.  Dogs are welcome on the hike.

Still don't see any photos posted, so I will add mine. I never caught up to the group - started at HD at 60 and Power at 1 pm as stated above, but as I couldn't find anyone in the expected area, proceeded to HD 6 1/2 miles south. Was already 1:30, so proceeded further south until I eventually found the trailhead at 2:00 Decided to take the clockwise route and do the steep part first, as I later found everyone else did, too. After about an hour without catching up to the group, I decided to extend my hike down to Hedgehog trail, and eventually back on Dynamite. Had a wonderful day just the same!

Size of group was great - not too big, the trail wasn't too busy, and it was pretty flat - good for me just increasing my mileage. Met some great fellow hikers

At the trailhead. Assume everybody left already? We're starting the main loop counterclockwise. See you on the trail, maybe.

This hike is not for beginners. If you are new to hiking or haven't hiked in a long time, then you are better off starting with something else.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
