Phoenix Nadir Challenge

I have always felt the Phoenix Summit Challenge was for candy-asses, so I am organizing an event for real hikers, the Phoenix Nadir Challenge.  Instead of hiking to the highest points in the Phoenix Metro area, we will hike to the lowest points, all in one day!  Here is the order of hikes:

1.  Lake Pleasant

2.  Canyon Lake

3.  Tempe Town Lake

4.  Saguaro lake

5.  Bartlett Lake

6.  Kiwanis Lake

7.  Chaparral Lake

We are not hiking around the lakes, we are hiking to the bottom.

Distance: 20 miles

Elevation Gain: negative 2000 feet

Difficulty: Strenuous, climbing over lots of underwater rocks and fish constantly biting your ass.

Half Challenge

If you are not ready for the full nadir challenge, you can always do the half challenge:

1. Lake Pleasant

2. Canyon Lake

3. Tempe Town Lake

3.5 Saguaro lake (halfway down)

Look for my training events on the next two Saturdays (the 9th and 16th), where we'll hike in my unfinished pool.

The cost to attend is $100 for the full challenge, $50 for the half challenge, plus you must bring your own scuba gear.  All proceeds go to support research to raise awareness about research projects that raise people’s awareness.

When you RSVP, please indicate whether you are doing the full challenge or half.

Always looking for new ways to hit rock-bottom :) Sign me up for just the half ... want something in the future to work down to.

Did my stint at a Navy Diver 40 years ago and just can't stand fresh water that is above sea level. No sharks says there is no challenge.
