Kayak Lower Salt under Full Moon

Full moon kayaking trip down the Salt River starting at the bridge and ending at Granite Reef. We will meet at the bridge on the north side at 8:30 pm.

If you went to Granite Reef it was aound 6 miles. If it was Phon De Sutten about 4 miles.

You can't miss the bridge. From beeline you're gonna go east on bush highway. You'll pass the first big parking lot where everyone normally starts tubing then the next place to leave the road is at the bridge. It's the only bridge that crosses the river along that stretch of road.

Yes, but this time we are going to point 6/ Granite Reef to avoid the hill. :) so add about 45 more minutes. Unless everyone wants to do Phon De again. I prefer Grainte we can decide at the bridge. At Grainte Reef 5 steps and you are at your truck w/ kayaks.

Tonto National Forest, joining with other agencies included under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA), is hosting a fee-free day on Saturday, September 29.
Day-use fees will be waived at all standard amenity fee sites operated by the forest. Camping and campground fees are not waived.

Just like last time, north side of bridge this time 8:30 pm then we will drop trucks off at the end which this time I was thinking Granite Reef since it's like 4 steps and you're at your truck. Don't forget blue pass and glow sticks.

Ok, not to be a pain BUT, where is the bridge? I have only tubed down the Salt River and was transported via their shuttle to the dropping off point. Perhaps I can meet up with someone (near the area) and caravan or carpool?

I know they let snowbirds park their RV's in the winter time at the Salt but I don't think you can in the summer. However, I could be wrong. There is a motel of sorts down there though it's in between point 1 and S. Lake...

No prob, will meet you there. Should you need it I'll also have your PFD (medium, in fashionable dark green) and a paddle. You don't want to be up the Salt River without a paddle.

Does anyone have an extra kayak? Otherwise, do you think it is possible to transport one in the back of a Jeep Wrangler sticking out the back? I don't know I've never done this before, lol.

Thanks Scott for letting Crystal know where. I do have kayaks but they are already claimed. 40 bucks is going to be the cheapest. However, if you think you will go again you can buy them on Craigslist for about 150 & up.
