Wounded: From Battlefield to Blighty,[masked] by Dr Emily Meyhew
I don't usually go for wartime stories but this sounded particularly interesting.
From Battlefield to Blighty traces a journey made by a casualty from the battlefield of the Western Front to a hospital in Britain. It is a story told through the testimony of those who cared for him – stretcher bearers and medical officers, surgeons and chaplains, often mentally and physically unprepared and frequently on the verge of collapse nurses – from the aid post in the trenches to the casualty clearing station and the ambulance train back to Blighty.
Please book (free) tickets from the Eventbrite website BEFORE confirming your attendance.
As it is a fairly early start I think we should meet at the entrance to the Surgeon's Hall a quarter of an hour before the start of the lecture at 5.45pm. If we don't all meet prior it's not the end of the world. Meet afterwards at the cafe which is just up the road.
Afterwards we will move on to Spoon cafe/restaurant in order to discuss.
