Here is the core of the original email that set the group up back in May 2011: I have been having conversations with a number of people over the last wee while about setting up an informal group to meet and share experiences / problems / challenges around adopting agile practices in general and scrum in particular (though I would stress this is not just a scrum group). I was wondering if you would be interested in coming along. The key point that I would make about it is that it is a community thing and *not* a professional networking / business opportunity thing. Confidentiality would be respected by the group so that we do not discuss matters that were discussed by the group with any wider audience. This is an essential element of trust that must exist for the group to be successful. If you want a commercial opportunity then please use the Agile Professionals Network (APN) sessions as they encourage that angle. For any of you who are APN devotees please do not see this as any competion to the APN, this is a fundamentally different beast - the aim for it to become a self-organising group without any agenda, board, comittee, presenters, speakers, etc. It's just a bunch of like-minded people who will meet at a pub for a drink and to share experiences with the aim to learn from one another. No membership, no fees. I think that the target audience is those people who are or have been involved in agile transitions or in the role of a scrum master or some form of agile coach.
