Now that Portland Tall Singles is under the umbrella of the Portland Skyliners Tall Club, there will be major changes in the purpose of this group. However, it will take a little time to define that direction.
I am leaving Sunday for the Tall Clubs International Convention, a week of sight-seeing, socializing, and partying with talls across the country. After I get home, I and my membership committee will discuss the future of Portland Tall Singles. We'll keep you posted.
I can say that a minimum height requirement of 5'10" for women and 6'2" for men will be reinstituted. I appreciate Karla's concern to include people who think of themselves as tall, but unfortunately that dilutes the purpose of a tall club--to be able to socialize with people of height. It doesn't mean we don't enjoy our friendships with shorter individuals, but it gives tallsters the unique opportunity to look everyone in the eye while conversing, for guys to dance with someone that won't give them a backache, and gals to dance with a guy who is not at eye level with her boobs. :)
While members need to meet the height requirement, shorter guests are welcome to attend events with a member.
In the meantime, I suggest you consider becoming a member of the Portland Skyliners Tall Club or at least a member of their meetup group at http://meetup.com/skyliners as there are always events on the Skyliners calendar, and it will be awhile before events will be posted on Tall Singles. If you don't see the type of events you are interested in, message me with what you would like to see included on the calendar.
Membership in the Portland Skyliners Tall Club is open to people age 21 and older who meet the height requirement and are married or single. This year marks the club's 60th anniversary. We're here to stay!
