Watch the Chiefs win their first playoff game in 24 years!

  • Doug's Place

We are going to win out first playoff game since Joe Montana was under center this year.

We have been talking all season about doing something special for the playoffs. Make an all day party for this special occasion. After talking with the group here is what decided:

John and April Robinson have a competitive smoker that they use to travel to BBQ competitions. They have offered to cook for the Arrowhead South members at cost. They will tow their cooker out to my house. We will split the cost of the meat evenly between all attendees. The smoker menu will be decided by the group.

I live in St. Petersburg. We just bought a house on the water. We have a pontoon boat that we can take out on the water. There are sandbars in our area we can park the boat on or just go putter around the Gulf while drinking our cold beverage.

I know that will be a bit of a drive for some of the group. But, it will be worth it. Way more memorable day than just another day at Winghouse.

I have two areas of the house we can watch the game. We have another TV outside in the Pagoda that's beside the pool. We have a Jaccuzi and a very nice backyard. Of course we have a well stocked liquor cabinet and beer refrigerator.

We definitely need an accurate count for the food and planning.

Pictures are on the website. We will play on Saturday or Sunday. January 4th or 5th. I'll put in my exact address and date/time when the NFL announce the game time/date.

    Chief fans,

Last update. We are at 56 Chief fans attending this Saturday.

Final tally for the meat that is now in its 7 step process.........
    21 slabs of ribs
    80 pieces of chicken
    100 sausage

I have 3 TV areas to watch the game but 56 people......going to be tight. Suppose to be a nice day tomorrow. We don't have 56 chairs for outside (or inside for that matter:) ). If you have a portable chair, throw it in your trunk just to be safe. We may not have 56 chairs but we do have 43 Palm trees in our yard.......just saying.

    Go Chiefs!

I wanna come! I will bring my poor friend who is a Redskins fan. I’m from KC originally, so I may bring some country ribs done my style as well as my 5 alarm chili. I will also bring a banner that we can all pose with and sign. Let me know if I can bring anything else. I went to two games this year and I used to work for the Chiefs. Oh! I will also bring the banner I made in ’97 that is signed by Mark Collins, Neil Smith and Derrick Thomas.

    Cheers and Happy New Beers!

Attn: I tried to send this to you yesterday morning, but I don't think it went thru.

    January 3, 2014

    • Angelica V.

Yay! Is there anything specific you would like on the banner I'm making? I can do anything.

    Chief fans,

We are at 49 Chief fans attending this Saturday. Some details about the meat................

John and April start the best meat that they can find. They will start prepping the meat as soon as they get it home.

They use a 7 step process to cook the ribs. John and April will be cooking 18 slabs of St.Louis style cuts of ribs. They trim up the slabs. They make their own rub for the meat and BBQ sauce. Their BBQ sauce is traditional vinegar based KC BBQ sauce. They will have a couple of bottles of Sweet Baby Rays for those who like the sweet sauce. They are also going to cook 80-90 pieces of chicken and 80 sausages.

Until John and April actually see the prices at the meat market we can't finalize the shared cost. It will not be more than $10 per person.

    Go Chiefs!

We are up to 35 Chief fans attending now. Check out whats already being brought, what we need more of etc. Let me know.

New Surround Sound system is installed. It frikking rocks. For this years new members to the group, we watched the Chief games for two years without sound. 2-14 without sound. I still can't believe we did that. We deserve good sound for the playoff game. At least that's how I convinced Janet to upgrade. :)

We have a pool, a 7 person Jacuzzi or maybe you want to go for a dip off the boat in the Gulf. If so, bring your swimming suit. We have towels and a changing room.

We will have the Margarita machine going. I have a fully stocked liquor cabinet of just about everything (with the good stuff) and some beer. We should have plenty of beer but, if you want, you can bring some beer. We will also have a variety of juices and soda's for the designated drivers and non-drinkers.

    Go Chiefs!

    Chief fans,

Anyone see that game coming today?

The game is set for Saturday at 4:30 pm. I've updated the meet up for my address and the correct time/date. I've attached the list of attendees. Please let us know what side dish you will bring. Also confirm that the number in your group is correct. If you can't make it please let us know. We need an accurate count to know how much splitting the meat cost will be per person. As of right now we have 26 people attending.

We are getting a new surround sound system put in on Tuesday. Couple of big TV's in the house and one outside. If you want to come early and hang you are welcome. Want to go out on the gulf and do some fishing or just go on a little ride drinking a cold one? We are making it an all day/night event. Come when you want and stay as long as you want.

    Go Chiefs!

OK ... I will donate a Commercial Margarita Machine to the party on Jan 4th or 5th ... will try to put a picture up ... I live in St Pete ... The Smoker is incredible ... I used to do some commercial smoking for Price Chopper Stores and Corporate golf tournaments in KC ... got any Hickory?? ... Pork Butt, Brisket, Ribs, Chicken Thighs, would be most appropriate for KC Que. I have been to both Chiefs Super Bowls, first one vs Packers was not called Super Bowl at the time. NFL-AFL World Championship Game at the L.A. Colesium was in 1967 (YIKES) ... Super Bowl IV at Tulane Stadium in 'Nawlins' was our last trip, 1970 ... a mere 43 years ago!!
