Kayak the Hillsborough River, Part Deaux - Sargent Park to Trout Creek

>>>>  9 AM <<<<<<< is the time to drop off your kayak if you need the shuttle.

We will push off from Sargent's at 10 am.

Let's do a nice, beautiful paddle with current down the Hillsborough River.

Scenery is awesome and nice wildlife with birds, turtles and gators (kayakers are not their diet).

Its good group paddle with plenty of time to chat, hang out and just kick back without saying a word ;)

This is a shuttle event so please do NOT be late and please RSVP by text the night before.

    June 2, 2014

    • Karl

Its a very trafficked river so not a lot of debris. There is always a channel through the lily pads etc.

Plan (approx 4-5 hours): - Starting at **9am**, drive to & drop of your kayak at Sargents Park

Is this doable with the group by renting at canoe escape and taking their shuttle? I'd love to do some of their self-guided tours (don't have my own stuff), but never wanted to do them by myself. June 7 doesn't work for me as I have a grad party, but maybe for future events? Thanks!

Why is there a limit on number of people ?

    May 26, 2014

    • Karl

Hi Les, the usual reason limits are on events..there is only so many people the park can handle at one time and the Organizer can keep somewhat track of. Actually, the number should be held closer to 15..but the attendance snuck up on me! ;)

Unless work sked changes I will be there and will be bringing my kayak trailer so can help in shuttle. It holds 4 kayaks but could possibly carry more and one on top of car if need be.

    1 · May 26, 2014

  • Angela GiGi H.

Would this be an okay paddle for a fairly new kayaker?

    1 · May 25, 2014

    • Karl

Actually its a great paddle if you're still getting your learning on! We're going with the current so not stressful from that point. The river has plenty of wide parts but also some turns and such to help you get used to maneuvering. Plus, its great to chat as you paddle..ask questions..all that good stuff

      May 26, 2014

  • Ed C.

If you like to take wildlife photos bring a small anchor.
Light dumbbells also work. The current is not strong, but it is hard to get good shorts while drifting.
