Kayaking @ Little Manatee

>>>>  Call for shuttle...Canoe Outpost (813) 634-2228...rate is $10 if you **tell him you are with TBK&MB <<<  .

http://www.thecanoeoutpost.com

Guys, I have to make sure everyone understands.... I know $10 is a lot of money ..but its the best deal for shuttle only that I could make if also he honored the $15 for kayaks. Still, its not that bad a price considering everything gets taken care of and the group merely has fun without any strain.

I set this up without our own shuttle to keep things simple.. as I knew I probably could not go. That is the only reason I ask you honor the way I set it up..

>> You should call Canoe Outpost and tell them you are taking the shuttle <<

>> If you do NOT use Canoe Outpost...you are ON YOUR OWN for this event <<

The group is
- meeting at Canoe Outpost with kayaks,
- taking their shuttle bus + yak carrier to their drop off point
- paddling a beautiful river and maybe some swimming
- land at the pickup point
- getting the shuttle bus +yak carrier back to canoe Outpost

>> *Warning to self shuttlers* Not only are likely 'on your own'.... <<<

Brian advised that the trip is 2 hours and the first pick-up is 1:15, so I moved back the start time to 10:30am. >>>He said there is a really nice picnic area halfway down & rope swings further down. ;)

Is there a space limit? Would this paddle be appropriate for children ages 4 and/or 7 in a tandem? I would be doing the paddling of course.

    July 10

    • Dan R.

Thanks. They both wear them. The 3 of us have done Weeki Wachee in the tandem. The 4 year old fits in my section with plenty of room.

Hey There. I called the rental place and told him I was with the group and the rental rate is $15. I was told that the rental place is the actual launch site and there is an area to stop midway and have lunch in a designated picnic area.

This is going to be a beautiful paddle. Per Canoe Outpost, we will launch from their site, do the paddle & then be shuttled back to where we started. We will have a chance to stop to eat and chat. Our launch time is 10:30.

    2 · July 10

  • Karl

As I will not be there..I am unable to orchestrate a shuttle service. Canoe Outpost will shuttle and take care of it for $10. (813) 634-2228.

    >> Please get cell phone #s of anyone you are shuttling with. <<<

    >>> Please make sure you get to launch point ready to go at 10:30. Don't make the group wait. <<

Sooo, I missed the Groupon. Is it still $15 to rent this weekend if I call the Outpost and tell them I'm with the group? Or should I anticipate the $30?

Yes, I just did. Confirmed it is $15 for the two hours and went ahead and put my name down to reserve a boat.

I just called canoe outpost and confirmed the 10 dollar price for shuttle only for the 2hr paddle trip. You do not need to call if to reserve a shuttle. Once you arrive tell them you are with the Sierra club and that is it.

    July 8

  • Arta

Hey everyone. For those who are bringing their own kayaks, have we decided how we'll handle the shuttle? Or are we just calling The Canoe Outpost to make reservations?

yes, sir! Just call Canoe Outpost (813) 634-2228. tell them you're with this group, Tampa Bay Kayaking & Mountain Biking

Michele, Louanne and Lin have generously agreed to be Event Hosts on Saturday. They are Team YGG. (ta-da!) ..ask Michele

So, even though I can't be there, they will keep an eye on things and help you where needed. Of course, until Saturday, if you have any questions..you can still ask me ;)

    1 · July 6

  • Karl

Bad news, guys..I cannot make this! >>> Can I get a volunteer to act as Host....need someone who can check off people as they launch, everyone has fun and then arrives safely. With a group this size I'd love to have 2 people..? Starbucks cards go with the awesome responsibility ;)
