Tampa Bay Photography Club Message Board › Program Mode
Wesley Chapel, FL
Somebody was asking about Program mode, (P) on my Canon, the other day. My Program mode sets an exposure, Aperture and Shutter Speed, based on a database of images. If I have Auto ISO set, it will automatically pick the best (lowest) one.
The advantage over Auto mode is:
- I can change the Shutter speed and have the Aperture automatically change. This gives you more control over Depth Of Field (DOF) or Motion Sharpness/Blur.
- I can also adjust Exposure Compensation (AV on mine) in case the camera just didn't get it right. It happens.
I'm guessing the advantage is setting an exposure based on its image database.
Frankly, if my camera shot P mode in RAW, I'd probably try it a LOT more. :-)
