Come out and press the flesh with your fellow sailors at this dryland social gathering. A great way for crew to meet skippers, and vice versa, before committing to future races, day sails or cruises. Also, with race season approaching, it's a great way to find out who's doing what, where and when.

• Skippers can identify themselves by telling people about their boat or showing off pictures of it on their smart phones. Wear your crew chirt oif you have one! 112 Skippers!

• Crew can identify themselves by wearing foul weather gear (be prepared!) or eye patches.

• Newbies can prepare by glancing over all of our information pages:   http://www.meetup.com/Tampa-Bay-Sailing/about/

sorry I bailed. drove the entire length of ben t. davis beach parking -nothing, just dozens of others ahead of me also looking. hopefully the next monthly meetup will be at a better location parking-wise. On another note. I know I have been remiss in taking my boat out since joining. Need a reliable outboard. Anyone know of a 9 -15 hp remote start, long-shaft for sale?

Thanks Colin, but hindsight doesn't help much. No worries, though - had a nice drive there and back.

See Colin's comment below: "the key was to use the valet service and say you had a reservation with Mindy - then it was no problem"

Well good luck finding parking..The Courtney Campbell is more jammed with sun bathers than I have ever seen. I had a meeting at Chart House. If you get frustrated driving in circles. Stop by just beautiful on the patio.. oh. BTW. another meet up is having their meeting here next week.

Drove 45 minutes to get there and could not get into the parking lot. For any future events at Whiskey Joe's, count me out. Sorry I missed seeing the other sailors.

Parking was crazy but all in all it was a good meet up. I got lucky with parking. I liked meeting everyone there and will continue to sign up for more meet ups with this group!

Very disappointed re your group's response, or rather, lack of response, to the many emails I and others sent about crewing for the Hospice Cup. I'm thinking about dropping out of Tampa Bay Sailing. A simple "sorry, no room" would have been polite.

    • Guy H.

Tony, do you know about the Tampa Flying Club out of N. Tampa Sundays noon ? I'm trying to go this weekend.

      April 26

  • Guy H.

Why not change the date to SATURDAY ? Going out late on a Sunday night probably limits the people that will show up, don't you think ?

    April 22

    • Susan W.

Saturday is The Hospice Cup. Would that conflict?

call somebody call Portofino's? Do they have a room? Free parking?

    April 22

    • Guy H.

It's in an L shaped shopping center next to West marine/Publix, plenty of parking

      April 22

  • Guy H.

How about Portofino's near Maximo ? Check with them first.

I did the same thing the 1-time I tried to go to Whiskey Joe's! Parking is "Rediculous"!
I like the "Thirsty Marlin" in Clearwater, but there's probably about 100 other places!
    What's up with $5. charge?

    1 · April 2

    • Brian

WildBill- the $5.00 charge is for the event holder's time and effort in putting everything together. Plus it also goes to renewal of the website hosting and domain name.

      Meetup Fees
I organize several Meetups for several years. I find the ubiquitous $5 fee per meeting is quite reasonable: • First, Meetup group costs about $14 per month ($168 yearly).
      • Second, organizing monthly speakers, guests, meeting places and events can easily take up a ½ day of activity for Organizers.
      • Third, any surplus creates a reserve for future events. For example, I recently booked a fantastically valuable and informative speaker for my Aspiring Writers Meetup, who instead of a simple dinner and drinks, required an honorarium in advance. Collecting the monthly attendance fee at events allowed this wonderful speaker to be booked in advance because there was money in the kitty. One to two dozen people per meeting is usually less than $60 to $120 or less than $720 to $1,440 annually. This can provide for speakers, guests, meeting places and special events such as annual picnics or field trips.

Sorry, had to cancel. Already have a commitment for the 27th. Hogan's Beach will be blessed with Spring Breakers too. Might want to try a place where there isn't a beach. Chart House has a nice room, Bahama Breeze has a back room.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
