Spring Breeze

Raven is set to stretch her legs and ride the waves again. Permanent crew get first choice and then new members are welcome. A few new restrictions though-absolutely no smoking will be allowed nor any injured sailors allowed aboard. Closed toe footgear required also. Sorry, but the good of the many outweighs the good of the few. If other Captains want to meet us 'out there' then please send me a message.

It was a great day. A little rough with the wind and the 6 foot swells but at least we got through it with good company! I came home with a souvenir sunburn on my face :P

    Thank you Brian!!

      Succinctly put! hahahaha

  • Gena

What a great day with Brian and a crew that had everything under control. Even with 6 foot swells and 20 knot winds I felt completely safe. Raven is a beautiful, solid vessel and a joy to be aboard!

Thank you Brain and all of my crewmates for a FABULOUS day.

Oh, and so far, no bruises, but my ASS is still sore! ;o)

    2 · May 18, 2014

    • Brian

You are quite welcome Gena. I enjoyed your being aboard Raven and hope to have you aboard again. You took your fall like an experienced WWF wrestler-I saw the whole thing! Thank God the chicken salad was saved! Now you can say-been there, done that-like we all have.

The last picture I uploaded shows the amount of spray/salt that wound up on deck!

As always, good friends, and good times!
Thanks Captain Brian for a wonderful day!

    1 · May 17, 2014

Susan, I also appreciate you being on board and hope to see you the next time. I also want to thank you for the card reader tip-saved me a headache!

Wow, am I tired!! The sun and the sea make excellent partners to help us sleep....

    1 · May 17, 2014

    • Brian

Rox-you're a trooper. I'm glad you're progressing so well with your training.

      May 17, 2014

  • Jennifer

Yeah Raven taking us through the windy waters today safe and sound! Thanks again Brian for a beautiful day with great friends. What a blessing!!

    1 · May 17, 2014

    • Brian

You're quite welcome Jennifer-thank you for coming out! As you see, I will ALWAYS get the crew, the boat and myself safely back to the docks-no worries.

Wonderful as always. Brian is a gracious host as always.

    1 · May 17, 2014

    • Brian

And I will say-you are an excellent sailor-I would trust you with Raven.

      May 17, 2014

  • Brian

Thank you all for a great day! I want to say that I appreciate each and every one of you. When days don't go exactly as planned and 'bumps in the road occur', it's these days that make long lasting memories. Anyone can sail on a perfect day. It takes teamwork, consideration and knowledge to make it all happen on a day like today, and we made it happen-all of us. For those that weren't out there-we had six foot swells and about twenty knots of northeast wind.

    Great as usual!

What's everyone bringing tomorrow in the way of food? I've got some diet pepsi's for Captain Brian! Heading to the store now for some yummies!!

    May 16, 2014

    • Jacquie

Dang, Roxann, if I was leaving just a few hours later, I could get a Corona for breakfast! Ya'll are going to have fun! Don't think I'll need to leave wind in my trail, appears to be plenty for all tomorrow. Reef the main before you hit the Corona's to hard!

      May 16, 2014

    • Roxann Jenkins D.

Jacquie.....I'll definitely keep that in mind for our next sail....breakfast of champions!!

Hey Brian - I was at the top of the Waikato. Then I got in yesterday and now I'm at the bottom of the wait list. Not sure what's happened. Let me know. Thanks. And thanks for hosting!

You aren't...I was booted off also, then chose not to be a part of this sail...there will be more people to sail with.

      May 9, 2014

    • Jacquie

Brian, love the idea! You and Rene and a few others aboard all boats. Would be a hoot and I know where the 6'f anchorages are :) But first you gotta come get this dingy before Friday? We can get the admiral and your pups ashore with multiple dingys!

I can't believe I'm finally going out on the Raven. Can't wait!!

Rene, sorry you are feeling frustrated. Let's move on! Should I bring beer? Snacks? Water?

    May 9, 2014

    • Rene

Don't worry. I already deleted my post, should not have written it in the first place.. best to just let things be and enjoy Saturday with whomever shows up. Re: what you should bring - please bring whatever you personally prefer. I will do the same.. I don't expect anyone to feed me, I have been doing it for many years :-). If you wish to bring a bit extra to share with others, that is fine, but neither expected or required. Look forward to meeting you on Saturday. :-)

  • Gena

I'd love to see some new faces at this Fridays Sit n Sip. It's the BEST opportunity to meet the Captains of the boats that you want to sail on! Not only is it a great way to meet new people, it's a great way to determine who you want to sail with. Both from a Captains perspective and a novice sailors perspective. We all have different skills and personalities and it's a perfect venue. Oh, and there's bathroom facilities too, because you know you only RENT beer and other beverages...just sayin'... ;o)

    2 · May 9, 2014

    • Brian

I agree Gena-just remember, the sit 'n sip is the 23rd..........see you for the sail before then

      May 9, 2014

  • Brian

Gena-as this is the first time your sailing aboard Raven, please wear closed toe footgear. When she heels over 30 plus degrees you'll need the traction!

    May 7, 2014

    • Gena

      Gotcha covered Cap'n. *SAL-LUTE*

Brian, I was at Hudson today, checking on my boat "Lady", decided to drive down to Tarpon Springs Marina - met Mick -seems like a good guy - showed me available slips - saw "Raven" -what a beautiful boat!

    May 7, 2014

    • Brian

Well thank you very much Captain Rene for your comment about Raven. Yes, she is my pride and the terror of the west coast! Black and VERY fast she is........an absolute joy to sail. I wish I could shake the master carpenter's hand for the great work he did. Looking forward to seeing you 'Lady'.

      May 7, 2014

    • Brian

      your 'Lady'

  • Jacquie

Awe, wish I could join you guys, but Conchy Jac and her brand new dingy Conch Foot, lol, is setting out early that morning for a 9 day cruise south. Hoping to get down to 10K Islands and shark alley, but we want to enjoy the journey. We're leaving before yah otherwise would be fun cruising out the channel with yah. We'll leave a trail of wind behind us. Enjoy!

Damn good thing he has the Admiral! Guessing when they start sending out snake warnings via text, this status may change.

      1 · May 6, 2014

    • Brian

gotta watch out for them damn snakes!

      May 7, 2014

  • TBill

Gee, considering all these pretty gals on the wait list just begging for your company, I'll make the supreme sacrifice and take myself off the list. Happy sailing, catch you next time!

    May 6, 2014

    • TBill

don't worry, Roxann... I'll be back.

      May 7, 2014

    • Brian

Looking forward to the next sail with you TBill- as for pretty gals, we have plenty already and they can cook too!

      May 6, 2014

    • Brian

now you're asking A LOT Jacquie!

      May 6, 2014

  • Brian

I am happy to announce that we will have the pleasure of the Captains Thomas (Jennifer & John) from S/V Cracker Jack accompanying us for this sail. We have to be on our best behavior!

    4 · May 5, 2014

    • Roxann Jenkins D.

If "best" you mean "bad", then I would agree as John Thomas is one of our favorite pirates!

      2 · May 6, 2014

    • Brian

We all have to beware of the feared 'Thomas Tew'.....

      1 · May 6, 2014

  • Mary g.

Hi Brian. I really would like a spot if it opens up. Thanks! :-)

    May 4, 2014

    • Brian

sure thing Mary-if I can get a friend of mine to take his boat out I'll post it or if one on my boat opens up....

      1 · May 4, 2014

    • Brian

Mary-it looks like you made it onto Captain Rene's boat!

      May 5, 2014

  • Rene

Brian, I might take my boat out. Where is "out there"? Whereabouts do you intend to sail to ?

    May 3, 2014

    • Brian

ok, call me and if you want, I will add more people who can sign up for this event so they can sail on your boat. I take 7 plus myself. I'll help you tie up Friday night also-can be tricky on the transient slips-ask Jacquie!

      1 · May 4, 2014

    • Jacquie

Certainly a need for two bodies aboard getting in there, ha

      May 4, 2014

  • Brian

Spring Breeze II just opened up to buddy sail with us. If you're on the waitlist and want to sail-Captain Rene is bringing his 30 Marine Clipper along.

When I replied there were openings and now I'm at the bottom of the wait list...what's up with that?????

    May 4, 2014

    • Brian

Andrea-nothing personal but as I had stated, my permanent crew gets first shot at a sail. If any positions are open after that, then new members are welcomed. It's just for some strange reason they keep shipping out with me! Also-Captain Rene just opened his boat up for this sail under 'Spring Breeze II'. There are openings now if you want to go.

      May 4, 2014

  • Brian

Joe & Sonia- thanks for signing up to crew on Raven. I'll keep you rsvp'd for the time unless permanent crew want to go. If they don't, then you will be aboard. I give first priority to permanent crew for sails and then take new people if positions are open.
