A big thanks to everyone who attended to make this a successful event. I thought it was a cool place, intimate and casual, something a little different from the usual bar or restaurant scenes we're all used to. Also allowed us all to talk to each other and get to know quality people, familiar and new. Interesting and artistic singing acts too! Thanks again!

Kevin did a great job in putting this together. Kudos. Loved knowing the proceeds go directly to this worthy charity.

Music not to my taste for the most part. I liked bringing in the food - its for a good cause and giving back to the community is always a good thing.

Look forward to seeing you, Brenda. You'll have no problem finding this gang once you enter The Hideaway Cafe. We'll be at the large table close to the bar. We'll look for the girl with the teensy weensy photo :-)

Went to Sam's today and bought a big can or green beans and also a large can of corn. Both were under $4. Suggest you visit your neighborhood Sam's or Cosco's.

dammit Lisa, I'm a doctor not a magician...er..sorry. I'm thinking 2 or 3 cans that amount to a couple of dollars would suffice? I'm sure they forward them to a shelter so I wouldn't think something would need a can opener or a microwave. fruit cocktail in a can, veggies...beanie weenies ...no idea...but if if helps I'll do the Can-Can before dinner!

As Kevin suggested, please call the number provided[masked] in regards to questions pertaining to canned goods guidelines. Or just use your judgement regarding canned goods that can be used in preparing a partial meal.

Helen, sorry you won't be attending. To try and answer your question, I will offer 3 suggestions; connect to the Hideaway website link I've provided for details of this organization (FMFI) or call them at[masked]-7895. 2 other ideas are to simply drop off contributions during their working hours at your convenience, or if you know any of the Meet Up attendees on a personal level, give your contributions to them and they can bring your items to the event in your honor. I hope this helps. I just planned the Meet Up i.e. the what, when and where and have no personal participation in the actual benefit.

I visited the Cafe Friday evening (@ 7 before 1st Friday in DTSP) and Met with John and Niki, the owwners and they are very pleased to have us next Saturday. Some notes:
-most importantly, if you are staying for the music gigs, DO NOT FORGET YOUR CANNED FOOD DONATIONS. That is the only requirements as it is otherwise free (i'd bring some even if you aren't staying for the entertainment but that's just me).
    - There is a big table that holds 12 people and 2 smaller tables for 4 each they will "hold" for us as long as we arrive around 6. Please plan to arrive close to this time! small room, limited seating...there will be a decent-size crowd of others...be respectful, please.
    to be continued...

-Parking...never any guarantees on parking in St. Pete but when I went Friday, it was during a Rays game and there were quite a few spots on Central Ave open (many on the west bound side) and a few underneath the parking lots under the overpass of 2-75 (which is literally right next to this The Hideaway) on Central Ave. and 1st Avenue North. Again, the earleir you arrive, the better luck you'll have.
      - There is not a full liquor bar, just beers (domestics and crafts) and numerous wines. There is a menus link within the venue's website link attached within the announcement.Obiously, food and drinks are not part of the FREE Music Benefit.
      - lastly, they ask (and there are subtle signs posted to remind) to please remain quiet during the acts...not loud talking amongst...but they have a side room with couches and you can always step outside...
okay, this was a lot but hopefully I have covered any questions you may have. Look forward to seeing!
