Locally owned by a Moroccan native, The Pearl is one of Treasure Island's top rated fine dining restaurants where guests enjoy the experience of true dining excellence.    A long time favorite of locals and visitors with discriminating taste, the atmosphere at The Pearl is upscale yet casual featuring tempting dishes by Chef Karim and presented by a knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Here's a review:

They have added an extensive tapas menu which is available in the bar.  We looked at the tapas menu and salivated!  They offer All You Can Eat Tapas for $29 on Tuesday nights.

Beverages not included in the price.

The chef will come out and get a feel for what you want to eat and then will prepare tapas until you are belly-up busted (at least that is what they told me.)  I even explained that I am a vegetarian so I don't want to have my palate limited by this "chef selection."  She said not to worry..we'd love it.  And we always do at The Pearl!

So…no promises on the caliber or quantity of food but I'm willing to give it a try.  It is The Pearl, after all.  Happy hour drink prices will unfortunately be over.  And reiterating…you may only order tapas in the bar.  No meals or appetizers from the dinner menu.

I made a reservation for 8 but more people can go.  She just cannot promise that we can sit together but it's an intimate area and we won't be far apart. Besides, it is hard to talk to everyone when we are seated at one long table.  It might be fun to play musical chairs among the tables since our cost will be the same (except for beverages.)

So although I am limiting this to 8 attendees, more people can be accommodated with the understanding that we won't get to sit at the same table. The bar area mainly had table settings for 4 anyway.  Rather a goofy way to go about this but the restaurant put the limitations on us, not I!  We'll make it work!  The other option is to have another attendee call for a reservation.   Let's wait to see how many want to go before deciding what to do.  So….please please please, RSVP responsibly.  No shows are a bummer for those on the waiting list (there is no RSVP close date this time :-) and for the restaurant, which sometimes brings on extra staff for group dinners.

I was full, the chef, owner Karim came out several times to make sure we had enough. There was bread, humus, olive spread, eggplant spread, pate, peppers, tomatoes, greens, crab cakes, shrimp, scallops in bacon, calamari salad, best meatballs, tender ribs, cauliflower with cheese, Mediterranean pizza. He especially made sure the vegetarians in our group were accommodated until we were all full., and I overslept and was late. Thanks so much for hosting Elizabeth. I would like to do some meal sharing sometime again love the variety of tastes.

Good memory Verna! I really want to go back…maybe make this a monthly event since I am sure Karim will change up the offerings each time.

Karim really outdid himself. We had about 20 tapas (small dishes) and the presentation was beautiful. Mind you, tapas are not appetizers so the first delightful offering was 7 different tapas. They catered to vegetarians as well and Marlene and I couldn't have been happier. The seafood was so tempting (6 different tapas in this offering) that I nearly wavered! We even got to take leftovers home. $29 seems costly but the caliber of the tapas, the service and the individual attention made it all worth it. Thanks to all for sharing this dining adventure with me. (I should have taken photos but that gives me an excuse to return!)

Hmmm…not sure what you're asking Verna. Tapas are only served in the bar area and not in the dining area. I hope that answers. Guess we'll figure things out as we go :-)

OK was not sure if it only applied to sitting on bar stools at actual bar or tables in the raised bar area also sounds good

Malcolm, email Liz! I think that's what it means! Linda was on the wait list + Liz said to tell her to come! I think that's why Rob got a table! The tapas will be at the bar!! Some of us may just order appetizers at the table, rather than doing the $29 deal at the bar! I am not Liz but that's what I understood! And Deb just cancelled!

Please see original description in the write-up. I mentioned twice that you can only order tapas at the bar…no meals and no appetizers. And you cannot order tapas at the regular seating in the restaurant. To order appetizers, you must sit at a regular table. If this affects your RSVP, please change it now. Thanks!

Maybe if they don't want tapas they can get a table in the dining room for the $10 dinner special if you are seated by 5:30 pm special. If you want you can make the waiting list reservations under my name.

Verna, I can't anticipate what folks want to do. I'll check this Friday to see what's happening. This is the perfect opportunity for a new host to step forward!!

OK folks…looks like this is shaping up to be a fun event. I need someone on the waiting list to make a reservation for 4. People always drop off so let's stick with 12 seats for now and we'll see how things go. When we had dinner there, the bar was not very full but we dined at 5:30. Who will step up and make a reservation for 4 in the bar area at 6 p.m.? Thanks!
