How to design and build a WordPress theme

We will take you from a Photoshop PSD to a working WordPress theme in about an hour, go through workflows, tools, and WordPress documentation. This presentation is for web designers who are familiar with building a static website with HTML and CSS and JS. It also will be good for those looking to familiarize themselves with the ins and outs of a WordPress theme. Note: We will cover some basic PHP.

Presenter: Alison Foxall, Front-end Designer/Developer

Thanks Allison for a really informative, interesting and practical insight into your theme development process. Despite the complex topic and range of expertise in the room I think you connected with everyone and completed your presentation in 45 minutes! This left a good amount of time for questions. I enjoyed the mix of WP 101, techniques, tools, best practices and client management perspectives that came out during the talk.

It was neat to see a huge Tampa Bay WordPress turnout (79!) on a week night with Spring Break traffic.

Generally, this meet up is for people who are familiar with HTML, CSS, and WordPress. It is more of a lecture type meeting.
