3D Printer Orientation

This is the class one must take to get approval to operate the Tampa Hackerspace 3D printers. It covers the basics of 3D printing. If you bring your laptop we will install Repetier Host and configure it for use on the Tampa Hackerspace 3D printers. The class sizes must be limited, please do not sign up if you are not going to attend. Signing up and not attending is inconsiderate. You don't want people to think that you are inconsiderate do you?

For the first class, attendance is free. Future classes will be free to members and $25 for non-members. The non-member price includes a day pass to come back at a future date to use the printer.

Great information about 3d printing. I'm ready to go.

The tutorial section of the Repetier Host site lists 4 different free 3D modeling programs. Is there a clear preference for Windows machines (free or not)? •SketchUp (free)
    •Blender (free)
    •OpenSCAD (free)
    •Autodesk 123D (free)

I do not believe Sketchup free version can output STL files, which is what is (i believe) commonly used for 3D printing.

How do you know if you can get in if you're on the waitlist? This meetup is a bit of a drive from where I live and I don't want to not be able to get in upon arrival.

Also, for the attendance fee, it's free for the first event for me and my +1?

    Thanks guys!

About 70% certain my +1 will not show (not feeling well).

... and by backup canceled, I pulled my +1, just me tonight.

Bring your own laptop so you can get setup to do your slicing and setup in the future, on your own timeframe. Steve may want to add some detail to this but I would guess attendees will want to download Repetier Host prior to this meet up.
