Location for the At Risk Youth Build Day has been selected. We will be building at the Florida Baptist Children's Home in Lakeland. It's a residential facility for children and youth. They currently have 50+ residents, and have 5 computers for the children to share.
We are looking to do a six-seat lab in their library and commons area, and a house-computer for each residential house. While this isn't exactly in line with the original plan, these children certainly need our support. They are as at-risk as they come.
I will meet with the facility director between now and the build day, to verify locations of the lab, how many outlets we have accessibility to, etc. The plan is to make the 6-seat lab an LTSP lab, so if you have any experience with thin client protocols, please make sure to be in attendance.
Additionally, afterward, we will host a dinner for everyone in attendance at our home. I'm thinking lasagna, so I don't have to babysit it. If you would kindly RSVP, so I know how many to feed, I'd greatly appreciate it. I will post follow up information here.
Please don't hesitate to email me, if you've got any questions. michelle (at) qimo4kids . com

Great event! I was shocked to find a full room with table after table of computer equipment. Everyone was so helpful, I think everyone learned a lot! and dinner afterwards was AWESOME!
