Volunteer to Assist With or Observe: Pet Partners Testing for Pet Therapy

Come join us for some Pet Partners Pet Therapy testing!  This is a great way to learn about Pet Therapy and specifically about the test.  If you come to observe or volunteer to help with the test, please leave your dog at home as this may be a distraction to the folks who are testing and also we are only cleared to have dogs that are testing on the property. :) We will be in the Medical Arts Building, Room 2 in the auditorium.

Happy Pet Therapy Testing and Observing!

Time well spent. Glad I was able to help out as well as seeing the professionals in action. Speaking f2f easier to help chart out our next steps! Thanks Scott & Pam! :-)

Hi, I am checking in and checking up the latest conversation here - from what I gathered we are meeting are 8:15 in the location above. I have made prior arrangements to attend and will be sure to make that time. However, will have to leave 10:30. Will be looking forward to meeting you Scott ready to assist and learn! Thank you for your time! Betsy :-)

Mara, we only have 1 team testing on June 14th. However, a mother & daughter is taking the test with 1 dog. So, we will start at 8:30am, finish the 1st test 9:15am, break for at least 30 to 45 mins & then test the dog with other person. Should be finished by 11am. But I still need assistants. If you are coming I need you their by 8:15am at the atrium inside St Joseph hospital. Please let me know if you are coming?

Yes the time was 9a-12p as we normally have 4 to 6 teams testing. But, we only have 2 people with the same dog testing. So, we all thought we could get started earlier, 8:30am. But if you can be their by 8:15am, I can meet you & go over a few items with you. We should be finished by 11am or earlier.

Scott, so do you have enough people if there is only one team? Like I said I will be there if you need me but if I don't have to make my family wait at the airport I prefer not to. Thanks!

Scott I need to be at the airport earlier than you would be finished, however, if you do not have enough people to help you I will be there. They can wait a little bit. I feel bad cx on you

Therapy testing, is another name for Animal Assisted Interactions (AAI). A person learning to become a handler to help assist their dog in helping both adults & kids in different facilities. The person and the dog become a team.
    I hope that helps.

Hi, we have a lab retriever mix and interested in requirements for testing - this sounds like good experience to get acquainted with program help out at the same time. She will be in class with husband and I should be able to get there for assist. Thank you!

Mara, I`m sorry, but I hurt my back last week and I could barely get up & down. I had to miss my puppy class as well. Right now I`m icing my back. Hey, who would have ever thought that an extra large kong ball would be my best tool for my back. I have been using that ball for years.

Was hoping to meet Scott today at Courteous Canine at the retriever meetup. Jan agreed my dog Jeter might make a great therapy dog. I guess we will meet shortly & I'll follow up for a time for maybe a meeting w/ Jeter <3

Can I bring my dog to be teasted?

    • Hennie

I can't do all that right now. I thought it was an entrance test to do visits w your dog

Hi Hennie, welcome to the group. The testing is scheduled ahead of time so it is by appointment. If you are interested in being tested please email [masked] or [masked]. We offer group classes with your dog that can help prep you if you need it. Scott offers a training without dogs that is also extremely valuable. Scott's class is free the group class with your dog is fee based.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
