Reading with Novelists Brock Clarke and Tibor Fischer

This event is the kick-off for the University of Tampa MFA Summer Residency Kick-off, open to the public. TWA will meet at the Oxford Exchange bookstore to attend readings and signings of two world-acclaimed writers.


Reading with Novelists Brock Clarke and Tibor Fischer

Brock Clarke is the author of five books, most recently Exley and An Arsonist’s Guide to Writers’ Homes in New England. His stories and essays have appeared in the Virginia Quarterly Review, OneStory, The Believer, the Georgia Review, the Southern Review and have appeared in the annual Pushcart Prize and New Stories from the South anthologies and on NPR’s "Selected Shorts." He lives in Portland, ME, and teaches creative writing at Bowdoin College.

The son of Hungarian refugees, Tibor Fischer was born in Stockport in 1959. His first novel, Under the Frog, was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1993. He is the author of four other novels, The Thought Gang, The Collector Collector, Voyage to the End of the Room and Good to be God. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, his work has been published in 25 languages. He is program director for the master’s in creative writing at Canterbury Christ Church University.
