WOW! What a night at Wordier Than Thou. The March gathering was a special evening with top flight readings and great stories. Having Memphis visitor, Josh Campbell, tell one of his stories about boyhood misadventure and high school social success brightened to set. And . . . what a tough act to follow.

Last night was an amazing story telling night. The sheer talent of those who read and even those who attended and chose not to read was phenominal. Thank you everyone for inspiring me to pursue my dreams. Thank you for bringing your work to life. I'm often reminded of something Les Brown said that I feel that "we" as a group live our lives by and that is the answer to his question at the end of this quote...

“Imagine if you will being on your death bed - And standing around your bed – the ghosts of the ideas, the dreams, the abilities, the talents given to you by life.

And that you for whatever reason, you never acted on those ideas, you never pursued that dream, you never used those talents, we never saw your leadership, you never used your voice, you never wrote that book.

And there they are standing around your bed looking at you with large angry eyes saying we came to you, and only you could have given us life! Now we must die with you forever.

The question is – if you die today what ideas, what dream

Oh, great! You mean all of those book idea that I have floating in my head, and couldn't possibly be finished in my lifetime, are going to haunt me on my deathbed? Ooo, I see the makings of a good horror story here.

That could turn into a great horror story there. Now I have another ghost to add to the quickly accumulating army of ideas that will haunt me. The dilemma of a creative person is creativity of ideas-a gift and a curse. The good news is you get to chose how you view it and how you use it. If it turns out to be a book or just something you blog or even just a story you share with family and friends know in your heart that you told it to someone and you did it for yourself. Then it won't haunt you. :)

I thought there was a good mix of storytelling and reading of prose this evening. And it was a wonderful turn out!
