As part of our reorganizing (to serve YOU better), we're starting a alternating weekly schedule with The International Boba House. Boba house has graciously hosted weekend events in the past, and we're looking forward to starting a regular series of games during the week!
We've also posted events for the next several weeks on our calendar - check it out!
And Brian posted a link to a great article written by one of our hosts - you can find it on our main Meetup page.
Check out these great games for our first in our series at Boba House!Acquire
: Okay, I admit, this is breaking my own rules a bit. Yes, it's true. Your grandfather may have played this game. It's now more than 48 years old. But - it's a classic game, designed by one of America's most recognized game designers, Sid Sackson. And unlike many other games of that age, it's ranked in the top 100 (at 63) of best games of all time, which says a lot for it right there. This game has had many incarnations, but the goal is the same - Acquire and grow your business.Samurai
: Another great game by Dr. Knizia, this one is set in medieval Japan. Players try to expand their areas of control, and to surround cities, which give them access to rice paddies (food), high hats (political power), or Buddhas (religious support or influence).Hansa
: This is a game that involves picking up and delivering cargo, collecting sets, and and expanding your areas of control. It is set during the rise of the Hanseatic League in Scandinavia.6 Nimmt
: Also called "6 Takes" or "Category 5", this is a fast and funny game of trying to outguess your fellow players. Every turn, pick a card from your hand, and everybody reveals at once. Each row can only hold 5 cards - so if your card is the sixth, you must pick up the entire row and add it to your points pile. Points are bad - the cards have varying numbers of "Hornoschen" (bull heads) on them, and the goal of the game is to collect the fewest points.
Come on out and learn some great new games! (And try some Boba, too!)
